As far as your book goes... Have you tried querying an agent? Good luck trying to get it sold without one.
Just do about ten minutes of research on google and you'll come to understand just how hard getting something published really is.
Ah, but you said you're publishing it yourself.
Bad idea.
If a publishing company or agent isn't interested in it, chances are no one else is either...
But I'm not trying to be negative here. Just do some research on it first.
Perhaps you could have your friend refer you to his/her agent?

Scots, what's this about homosexuality? It's Bisexuality!
Renzatic: Well, I don't really worry about things like having a big TV or stereo or anything. I mean, I can watch TV, play DVDs, and listen to music on my computer, so that takes care of a lot of things right there. When it comes to the basics, I try to get as much as I can from as little as possible (I still use the same backpack and calculator that I used back in high school... hey, if it still works, I use it). I mostly spend personal money on books and CDs, but I haven't been doing that as much as of recently...
Paz: Well, of course, I'm sure I can handle doing something as simple as laundry. The only part that worries me is I hate working with certain chemical agents, but I guess I'll just have to deal with it.
WAREAGLE: Almost all of my clothes, with the exception of my casual socks and underwear, is black. So, I probably wouldn't have to do too much color seperation.;)
TBE, well, I can actually sleep in both bed and chair now... It depends how I feel that night, as some nights it's easier to sleep in bed, othertimes the chair is easier. The only problem with sleeping in a bed is that sometimes my stomach hurts in the morning, probably from the way I lie down or something. Of course, I'd ask before taking any furniture.
pavlovsdog, yeah, I've always loved the idea of having my own place. I've wanted my own apartment ever since I saw the film "Reality Bites" years ago. I don't know why I've been waiting so long, other then basic anxiety and the fact my parents haven't actually been encouraging me to move out.
Random Taffer, yeah, I know a bit about the publishing industry. This particular book I'm just doing for fun, as it has no chance at all of being put out by a major publisher... Which isn't to say that I want to self-publish everything I do, just this one book, a book where I could have almost total control (though I did let them do the cover for me, which turned out to be a mistake... it was very bland). Hey, in fact, I even thank TTLG in the acknowledgment section and certain people on here (I even thank RBJ and Noid, so, watch it with the sarcasm, you two).;)

Move out, if for no other reason than you're fucking 26 years old. But whatever you do, make sure you keep your pals at TTLG updated!

Living with parents sucks. Do two jobs if neccesary. I own a house now and I wouldn't trade the freedom for anything. Sure I have to work my ass off to stay above water and when something happens I can't call my parents or the landlord, but It's my house or it's mine as long as I pay my taxes (rent from government) and the house payment. Don't worry! You'll figure out how to live on your own after a few dozen screw-ups, or you won't. In which case you'll be begging to live under your parents roof again and again and again.
Remember: brew your own beer. It is cheaper that way. If you don't drink now; you soon will. :cheeky:

I don't have a clue what Stitch is talking about. Neither of us has ever attempted to parody Sypha's writing.
But, my god, on top of everything else in that post I wish I had created the "Kill yourself" clock
SlyFoxx on 17/10/2006 at 03:08
Well good luck. But @ 26 your set of life skills seems at least ten years behind schedual. I predict you're back home with the 'rents in under 90 days. Good rule of thumb is 25% of total income for rent. 'Noid is more or less correct here.:erm:

Okay, since I actually do have some love for Sypha amidst all the scorn, I'm going to give some genuine advice here:
First off, do it. Move out. Frankly, living under your parent's roof has placed you in a state of suspended adolescence and moving out would be a huge step in you growing up and gaining some independence, which I don't think I'm exactly going out on a limb here to suggest you could use a bit more of. If you do move out and manage to stay out, I guarantee in a couple years you'll look back on this as one of the best decisions you ever made.
Secondly, there are tons of ways to furnish an apartment on the cheap, almost all of which will be described by The Blackman shortly.

$80-100 a week isn't alot of money for your average weekly visit to the store.
Say what? Fifty a week MAX, and I don't eat skank shit.
