moving house... - by wun

wun, I find it no fun, at all, to move house. Got worried about stored stuff in the Caldera Towers disappearing, so d/l'd a Caldera res plug-in. Made it thru the 1st game patch upgrade sans hoohoo but went KABLOOIE in the 2nd patch install process. Has taken me a week of real-time play of 1-2 hrs/day to move all that crap back into the towers, unload the plug-in & be able to resume play.
New strategy: use it or lose it. I'm gonna travel light fr here on out - I think. It's gotten to the point I leave most stuff behind nowadays anyway. Am considering an empty Balmora res plug-in. Either that, or I gotta join a House & earn a res the hard way.

jstnomega..
i earned the stronghold...
it's finsihed after like several upgrades... i just thought it sucked...
and there is ppl living there i don't need.... plus it's outside of town..
i am fine with the narano manor...
and yeah i don't pick up as much stuff as i used to..
in the early days when i left somewhere it was picked clean down to the last
common shoe... but now if it ain't useful or really worth something... it gets
left behind..

Just a thought. I too am unhappy with the location of my Hlaalu stronghold. I was wondering if it was possible to go into the editor and edit some of the services those guys living in my house offer. For example, if one of them offered mage-guild travel, that would make it worth my while moving in... But then you'd have to edit it so that other mages guilds offered travel to the stronghold. Is it possible/worth it?

Is it possible/worth it? It's possible but a good deal of work is involved. To alter a travel service you have to manually set where it delivers you, you can't just say "put me in my manor" without telling excactly where in your manor you want to be put. The same applies to doors going in and out of houses/caves

Setting up travel isn't that difficult. It's one of the first things I learned how to do. I got the Creeper Mover moc installed and have the Hlaalu Stronghold, so now I have the Creeper living at my Stronghold. Well, I thought that it would be cool if the Creeper also offered travel, so I set him up to whisk me away to either the Balmora or Caldera Mages Guilds. I also changed one of the destinations of the Caldera guild guide to be my manor.
Biggest trick was in figuring out how to set the "landing" spot. You pick the cell you want to travel to, and then click on the 'choose marker' button. The target cell will load and the target arrow marker will be highlighted. Move it to where you want to land.
What confused me was that I thought each landing would have only one arrow. Instead, each travel originator (guild guide, boatman, teleporting door, ect) has it's own marker. For the landings at the mages guilds for example, there will be at least 4-5 arrows all in the exact same spot, looking like one arrow. You can move your own target arrow right on top of all the rest if you want. Hope this helps and isn't too confusing.

I dunno bout you guys but when i saw my hlaalu house i was shocked. Ive been living in the creepers house in caldera and i have alot of space for all my junk, when i saw my manor (which it didnt even have my name) i was like, WTF, its so small!!!! the others have a bigger house then me. So i went in search for a house. And after looking and killin, i recalled back to creepers and layed down. Then i went out and looked around, and i saw the governers house. I had to have it. But i didnt want to kill anyone inside, and since i was a mage, i just commanded them to the outside, and Boom, home sweet home. I locked the two outside side doors, so the only entry is in the middle, and when you walk in you see a table with three ord. helmets laid out with two candles on the side. I think this house is great. Im gonna keep all the junk with creeper and all the nice stuff with me. If your interested stop by the Governers House in caldera. BTW i have XBOX.

I was excited when House Telvanni started building my stronghold,
until the first phase was finished and found out my new house
was at Ulith's Grave. Argh! I hate the Maalog Mar Region,
always tend to get lost on the many twisting paths and now
there's so many dead cliff racers strung out that I can't use their
dead bodies to find my way back anymore. There's no quick way
from any city to my stronghold (and it's a long walk, swim or flight
:( *sigh* I use the dead Orcs house in Balmora also...way easier for
dropping off big weapons and such in-between missions, but not lots
of display room. My wood elf is patiently waiting for a better housing
situation to come along....
