So, they're finally making one... will it be a Family Guy style flop, a straight to DVD no-brainer, a longish episode with a ridiculous plot? Has the Simpsons already reached a level of staleness that all they can do is desecrate the warm and fuzzy memories of when the show was on top and consistently funny? Will the movie have nineteen THOUSAND cameos and be a seizure-inducing collage of pop culture references like the Shrek movies?

A spoiler of the potential story follows: The main plot is that a goof by Homer at the power plant results in the government putting a dome over the city limits of Springfield.

Predictions and frustrations here!

That opener cracks me up EVERY damn time - if the film opens with that scene, it'll be worth admission alone. I need to buy Clerks.

I'm surprised; that sounds like a plot that might even work. I was wondering how they could sustain a story for two hours, especially since the newer episodes barely have any as it is, but a nuclear meltdown is something that's never acually happened in Springfield, and it's an event large enough to involve the whole town.

They've gotten close before, but true, the meltdown itself hasn't actually happened. Perhaps everyone will die in the end?

Also, does anyone know what the track is being played at the start of the Clerks 2 trailer (that is also from Silence of the Lambs)?

It's Goodbye Horses by Q. Lazzarus.

I don't have high expectations for Clerks II, but it is Kevin Smith, so it should at least be watchable.

Basically, it was three episodes that weren't funny enough for tv that were stitched together to make a "movie." Amazon may have given it 4 stars, but everything I've heard from people who've seen it amounts to "If they were deemed Not Funny Enough for TV, then they should have taken the hint."
