Folks,
I suddenly realized today I've lost my ability to play movies in Thief 2 (normal gameplay is not affected, movies just don't play, for example, I click "Credits" and it jumps right back to the menu screen). I do not get any lockups when playing videos, they just are skipped.
I've already tried the "My In-Game Movies (briefings and cutscenes) aren't playing any more, how do I fix it?" solutions in the pinned FAQ above.
Basically, running Regsvr32.exe with LGVID.AX claims it successfully registered. (It claims I'm running as "Owner".) I get the same results with a batch file. I've also tried loading the "Having trouble with XP Service Pack 2 and Thief Video Codecs?" new codecs, that seems to have no effect. I've even tried uninstalling and reinstalling (and re-patching to 1.18) Thief 2, no effect.
Has anyone else hit this recently and solved it? Thanks!
(I'm running Windows XP with Service Pack 3, my system is an Intel Core 2 Duo running at 3 GHz and 2 GB of RAM.)

Folks,
Problem solved.
I found this thread: (
http://www.ttlg.com/forums/showthread.php?t=133383&highlight=codec)
which pointed to the K-Lite Codec Pack (Basic). When it installed, it simply warned I had the "LAV Filters" on and it needed to remove them. I had the K-Lite Codec Pack (Basic) installer remove the LAV filters and then I cancelled out of installing K-Lite Codec Pack. Bingo, my Thief movies were back.
