I was using the mouse wheel on my old cordless Logitech Mouseman mouse fine this morning, but when I got home from work, it won't work. I have a feeling either there was a Windows or IE update that broke things, or my idiot father somehow stuffed things up when he used it.
Basically, it'll do one of two things (usually the former); it either refuse to scroll whatsoever in Windows or any other program (including games), or it'll jump up and down rapidly I nudge the mouse. I can click the scroll wheel to get the icon to scroll up and down, but then I have no cursor control.
I've checked the batteries, downloaded the latest drivers, restarted the computer, deleted the temporary files and adjusted some of the settings in the Logitech menu, all to no avail. Anyone have any other solutions or know if it's a Microsoft update that breaks the mice function?
Cheers,

Sounds like the wheel or its optical sensor are dirty. Try opening the mouse and cleaning it, if you feel confident doing that.

Have you tried completely uninstalling the hardware & re-installing it?
I've had a similar problem before & that usually fixes it.
Being usb makes it very easy to do as well.
