Hello,
shortly put - I need a mouse. With the coming of the next Thief, which I intend to try out and see at least.. and also with my new plan to replay old Thief games and rediscover FMs, the need for a new mouse is more than apparent.
There are millions of mice available on the internet, it seems. Yet this thread was created, because after searching for at least 2 weeks (whenever I have time), I haven't found one I need. And I really did think my requirements weren't that specific:
1. first of all, the mouse needs to be properly long. these days, I've come to despise all the mice that are just too short. the reason behind all of this is that in Thief, my middle button / scroll is bound to 'move forward'. actually, this is the way I play almost any game. left click: attack, middle click: move forward, right click: move backward. it's the only configuration I can imagine and for this to work, the mouse needs to be at least 11.5 cm / 4.5 inches long or more. this way, the middle button will be just under the tip of my finger, and I won't have to bend just to press it every single time I move.
2. wireless / cordless with a mini receiver (like the Logitech Unifying connector for example)
And that's it. You would think there are mice out there with the proper dimensions, but believe me - after searching like hell from google etc. for different brands and models and their dimensions, I still haven't found one that works for me. All I need from it is to be long enough, with 3 buttons (side-buttons not necessary, but if they're present, they better be very slim and 'not in the way') and wireless..
Can any of you help me out and what kind of configuration do you personally use?
Humbly,
zil

I have a Steel Series Kinzu as my main mouse and use a good old Microsoft wheel mouse optical as backup.

Yeah I've bumped onto it too - the Kinzu looks very nice! If only it were wireless! :(
