I'm trying to find the dwemer weather machine for Amalexia in the ruins beneath Mournhold. I've looked everywhere except for a passage blocked by fallen boulders beyond which is a doorway to another passage-way. I figure the machine must be on the otherside, but I can't figure out how to move these boulders, or get through them. Can anyone help me out here? Thanks.

I think this calls for explosives.
You should find some dwemer satchels, then use them to move the fallen rocks, then crawl through the passage.
The satchels- 2 or 3 of them- are scattered around in cabinets or crates or some such. There are two lotsa of rocks to move so you have to find at least two.

[edit] umm...okay I'm stupid. I can't get the satchels to explode. I've tried regular arrows, flame arrows and every fire spell that I have. Nothing. So how do these things work? :confused:

I think you just have to drop them in front of the rocks you want to explode, then you get a little pop up box asking if you want to detonate them. Say yes, then RUN LIKE HELL.

That, or "use" the rocks while carrying one; I forget which it is... but running like hell is definitely reccomended soon after ;)

I can't help comparing this game to Thief sometimes. In Thief there is a thing called a starburst device which you can place against whatever you want to blow up, step back to a safe distance and shoot it with a fire arrow and KAABOOOOM!! Big explosion and massive destruction. "Using" rocks just seems counter-intuitive.
But thanks everyone for your help. I'm gonna give those rocks what-for now.

Do you use up both the satchels in that explosion? I mean, I remember seeing number 2 when picking them up from the chest, but after using them on that rubble, they were both gone. I'm asking because, after you crawl through the opening, there's another passage further along blocked in the same manner, and I no longer had the satchels. Of course, after operating the weather machine I used the A. Intervention to get me back to the surface (I hate the ash storms, and they make me make one!? :()

I think you only use one; in fact, I used the satchels twice, on two separate piles of rocks, and I still had one left. Now, I thought I only had two to begin with, but maybe it was three... Who knows.

No, I'm quite sure there were two, but after I blew up the first block, they were gone. Then again, after the game asked me if I want to place the charge, the game saved and then complained there was an error in menu, and it showed me my desktop... so I had to restart the game and load what it saved, and then i saw the countdown... neat.

So, after all you do need another satchel for blowing up that other passage way... and mine has disappeared with the crash of the game.
Well, player->additem"dwemer_satchel00"1 did help in this case ;)
