But if it's stated in the contract that it may be returned, I would abide by every rule in action to make sure that happens. Most of the time the agency will use most of the deposit to re-paint, buy new carpeting, and do other not completely necessary things to the apartment, if it was well kept, and return the rest to the renter, BUT, if you give them any reason whatsoever to keep the whole chunk, they will. And you'll think you can sue them, they'll win. The point is, read your contract to get the fine details. If they're not listed, it doesn't hurt to ask. Just make sure you keep a record of EVERYTHING, as it's your responsibility to if anything were to end up in court.
If they really piss you off, put a couple raw fish in the curtain rods before you leave. You'll surely get em' back that way.

If I remember my childhood pranks correctly, an egg stuck inside a bottle of milk and deposited in the air vents works far better for hot stinky action.

Hahahaha That's just mean, unless you have guff with the neighbors as well, then it's just genius. :laff:

First off, I'm renting one side of a private residence: Its setup so that one side has its own door, and that side is mine. No renting agency involved, and thank goodness: The landlord is much nicer and helpful than I have heard the local real estate queen is.
Anyway, I do think I'll go with the stand, since it will let me move my setup. Does anyone know a good place to start looking? (anything better than the google results?)
edit: The speakers in question are a Logitech X530 set.

Do you have some sort of bracket to hold the speakers or are they going to sit on a platform?
Unless you know the optimal height you want them at you might consider something adjustable.
Mic stands, for instance.

Security deposits arn't meant to be returned, FYI, regardless of the way you leave the place when you leave
This is pretty awesome. Just when I think you can't go any farther in confirming just how white trash you really are, you go and drop this jewel.
Once you get beyond the slumlord situations to which you're accustomed, I assure you that reputable landlords will return security deposits to responsible tenants.

Yeah, you really don't have the right to trash a place.
While there are some landlords who will not, under any circumstances, return the security deposit(like the local mogul), those ones are usually big enough tards that they will just sue you for damages.
There's something else to keep in mind before you cross the landlord: many otherwise stupid people display a startling level of skill when it comes to the fine arts of manipulation. You don't want someone like that as an enemy.

Fine..., fine.. But what is up with this new ugly-arse site redesign? Did the board just inexplicably jump from 1999 to 2002, and can I somehow disable this abomination??
