I'm kicking myself for having given up on this so quickly the first time I tried it. I tried it again yesterday and oh my god this game is amazing. Truly, it is not far from being a masterpiece. If they can polish the graphics, add a good story, and fix up the towns and various things like that by the time it's out of beta it will be a huge hit. But even in its present state it's features more than make up for any of its flaws. And by flaws I simply mean things that aren't as smooth as they could be. I bought Stalker on Thursday but I've played nothing but this since then. Definitely the type of game you have to dive into to learn -- to realize how good it actually is. I already bought a serial too, this is a keeper.
Anywho, sorry for resurrecting and old thread just to say it rocks. I'm sure they've added a ton of stuff so here's hoping more people will give it a try. If they ever add any form of multiplayer, I can kiss my career goodbye.

I check this out ages ago, around its first release. God i love it. the combat system is great, the graphics are good and it's stable. Pity there's not much of a story yet :/

Yes, it's thread necromancy, but I'm willing to bet at least a few of you bought this game and forgot about it.
New Version .890 is out. (

Use the mirrors, the main site is ridiculously slow right now.
It's worth bringing up because this is a very large change. Now in is raiding villages, multiple factions, a whole bunch of rebalances, bigger battlefields and bigger battles, faster horse....it's a huge change, and it's not listed on their homepage yet.

Thread returns from the dead once again.
I like this a lot - it's sort of a medieval version of Elite, plus some sassy third-person combat in the style of being a dude on the ground from one of the Total War games ... or something like that.
Anyway, yes, I didn't just breathe life into this thread to say that; there's another (
http://forums.taleworlds.net/index.php/topic,29341.0.html) semi-hefty update available (from 0.89x to 0.901), which all you other M&B types may be interested in.
The map is now HUGE, and, I would guess, takes a couple of game-days to cross. There're some sexy quests to take (from Village Elders, Guild Masters, dudes in Castles etc) and I believe some of the AI has been tightened up (horse archers on your team supposedly behave a bit better, although I haven't tested this yet).
Plus! You can buy and read books from a mobile book trader, which I'd guess improve your stats. It's not a crappy instant thing where you buy the tome and TA-DA, WOW NOW YOU CAN FIGHT BETTER, you have to select the book you want and it progressively gets read during your travels. Ultimately improving your knowledge of trade, or leadership or whatever. Which at least is a nod towards realism.
I recommend it if you haven't re-visited the game for a while. Make sure you get 0.901, because 0.900 had some hilarious bugs (I'm sure 0.901 has a few too; but less).

It's an awesome game. I haven't tried .90X yet, I'm waiting until they get a stable build.

hi guys, i have tried the neweest version that was released a month ago. its perfect, its still not finished but highly playable. Most bugs are gone now, and try the new mods like:
-Hundred Years war
-BoW extended mod
both are great.

Downloaded the gametrial and tried it out.
Damn, I thought you could be riding through the entire gameworld in the same way as in the battlefield. =(
But still...the gameplay is quite nice. I won't stop playing this too soon.
