Please don't take this wrong, but the [story], is exactly what I am waiting for.
I understand that; I am too.
The way I was thinking about it, the story basically isn't there at all, so there's nothing to really spoil you playing now. You can *still* enjoy the combat now, and then get the full experience of the story later on.. it seems like a win-win to me.
But if you want to save the whole experience as a finished piece, which is what you're saying, then I can't blame you ... that's cool, and I understand that too. Anyway, it's all good. Play it when you're ready; you know it's gonna be good whenever you pick it up, and it's only going to be getting better.

I haven't played this for ages, but I really enjoyed it. It always had some bugs (and occasional crashes for me) and the new vanishing horse feature sounds nasty - can you still opt for manual saving instead of the autosave?

Demogogue: Yeah, I see your point. You say the pure gameplay is solid enough that even w/out the story and questlines intact, the game still has a lot to offer. That's cool, and I never though about it as being "spoiler free", but that's a good (if slightly obvious ;) point). As you can see, by my numerous posts/questions itt, I am more than a little interested in Mount and Blade.
Couple of quick questions. Forgive me if they've been asked & answered:
1) Are they saying when M & B will be finished or at least close?
2) I know it was $10 when I first heard about it. I understand the pricing is 'dynamic' and increases as the content grows. What is it costing right now?
3) what methods of payment are they accepting currently?
4) Ok, say I spent the $10 or whatever on the 'full game'. Now, am I guaranteed the entire game and every single update in the future, or do I have to keep spending as they increase their prices to get the latest content and/or finished product when available?
Thanks

1) I don't think so.
2) $18
3) Credit Card (through eSellerate), PayPal ($21 - $3 extra)
4) You don't have to pay for any additional updates. The key is valid for all further versions of the game.
NOW GO BUY IT!!!!!!
(man, it's worth it)

I second that. I'd decided to buy before I'd even left the combat arena in the first town (ie, practice mode), and even without the promise of all future updates I already feel I've got my money's worth out of it - and I'm talking about several versions back, about 0.730-ish, since I haven't been doing much PC gaming recently.
Have you tried the demo, Fig? That will let you play up to character level 6, so you have plenty of time to decide if you like it or not. You're better off buying early, as it's cheaper for you and it puts money in the devs' pockets.

Ah, crap. No credit card anymore. :(

Wow! I'm sorry for resurrecting this, but I just had to. This is incredible, simply the best melee simulator I've ever seen. And with horses, too! I've been waiting for this my whole life.

So a guy like you ain't bothered at all by the static blocking?
Minion21g on 23/7/2006 at 23:57
Uh chief, you can pick which direction you want to block instead of using the auto block.
DarthMRN on 24/7/2006 at 02:31
You are missing the point of the question. Tony probably won't.
