Mostly what I have seen of a race/left-right/religious war mentioned is as a threat by the right. You better stop making fun of my president or when the war happens all you lefties will find out we have all the guns kind of thing. But it's an age old fear mongering tactic by white supremacist organizations that darkies are going to rise up to overthrow the rightful place of whitey and this is just another iteration of that. That it has come up so frequently lately does make me wonder if the idea of it has been disseminated by right wing news outlets of late. I haven't been watching them lately or listening to Hannity or Limbaugh so I don't know. Does anyone know?
Because the left has been standing up for itself and trying for justice instead of just rolling over the right feels the left is rising up and to them that means war. The left should be cowed and accept anything they say because "Trump is your president". Top that off with religions pushing for armageddon because they are tired of waiting on late to the party Jesus and you have a receptive audience on the right. Nevermind Jesus would kick their mammon loving asses from the temple. The movies evangelicals make are particularly heinous and paranoid collections of lies.
I just wonder how many HAVE swallowed this crap. Am I the wrong one to think most on the right are not batshit crazy? Can there actually be that many crazy people living and working and going bowling along side the rest of us? I poo poo it but it is a scary thought that your neighbors could suddenly turn into a murderous hoard. Remember that episode of The Twilight Zone called "The Monsters are Due on Maple Street"? Maybe it's time we started broadcasting some similar programs again. Of course nobody on the right would watch them because that is the devil. Back in the day we only had three channels and that captured some eyes on the far right, enough perhaps to convince them of some measure of responsibility for society and back them down from the more lunatic notions of all out war on those with a differing opinion. These days perhaps we are able to cocoon in echo chambers to form lunatic militias.
