Ok I have a wierd bug with morrowind, I got morrowind free with my graphics card , I install it, Start it up, I get to the point where you get off the boat/ship at the beggining and the guard comes upto me and starts to talk, then the game crashes back to the desktop with no error report or message what so ever. I then tried to update the game and it did nto solve the problem. I have also tried other things, but they are illegal and therefor cannot discuss them on this site.
My pc specs are as follows:
AMD ATHLON XP 2500+ 1.9GHZ
Os windows xp pro
Direct x 9.0
geforce fx 5200
ram 768mb of ram.
Any help would be great and much apreciated, wetehr it solves the problem or not, your time in helping me will be apreciated.

It is a buggy game and it tends to crash quite a lot. But if you have a crash like yours then I really don't know, beyond reinstalling the game, debugging/defragging your machine, all the usual stuff.
Another suggestion is to install the game on someone else's computer, make your character, save, then put the savegame on your computer and try the load game option. Maybe it will work then. Possibly worth a try.

Make sure you have the latest nVidia Detinator drivers. These probably didn't come with your card, so you will have to download them from (

Yes, Morrowind crashes a lot, even on Xbox.
In my experience, sometimes Morrowind will just persistently fail to work on some computers. I don't know why, but here is a very
DRASTIC SOLUTION : Go into Construction Set. Click the load icon at the top of the screen. Check the box next to "Morrowind" by double clicking it. Click the load button. Wait. Wait. Wait. Double click on "Seyda Neen" in the "Cell View" window when it appears. Wait. Wait. Wait. Okay, now in the render window it should show you Seyda Neen. Use the mouse and the shift key to navigate to the ship where you start the game. Click on each of the blue rectangles around the ship (invisible barriers) and delete them. Save as a plugin file and activate the plugin. Start a new game. Now you can jump off the side of the boat before the guard asks your race. You can now go through the game normally, except you don't have a race, gender, stat menu, health bars, journal, or inventory. And here's the real bummer: you can't jump. But hey if you're this desperate for Morrowind, whatever dude.
But I recommend you just buy it for Xbox.
