Just got Morrowind today, everything seems fine so far except that the 'Dream' that you have at the beginning is just a white screen, I can hear it okay but no picture :(
Then when the game starts its fine, a bit choppy but okay.
I'm running it on a 1.2GB Athlon with 256MB ram and a Voodoo 5 5500,
I just updated the drivers today too, so its not that, any ideas?
Also the link to the new exe in Kathodes thread doesn't work for me, is it uploaded anywhere else?
Thanks.

No idea re: your video issues; but as to the no-cd fix, try the links further down the page. I eventually got a good download from the gamecopyworld url (on the top of page 2).

I didn't even know there was cutscenes in Morrowind. I didn't even get any sound let alone video. [I thought it was odd that no video files were included.] I even looked in the Morrowind folder for vid files but none are listed that I can see.

Weird! What do you see right at the start when the womans voice says that you've been released from prison? I hear her voice, then the guy saying wake up, but only see a white screen.
I assumed it was a fmv because all the in-game engine stuff seems to work fine.
[edit] Oh yeah and by the way Forsythe, I managed to download that no-cd exe but it won't extract, keeps giving me a weird error:
Unknown method in YAN.txt :erg:

I'm surprised the damned game works at all. Many of the folders are empty in the Morrowind folder. When I started playing the game nothing happened, as it started I woke up on a ship, thats it, no video no sound no nothing. Maybe thats why I get unexplained crashes and weird video problems all the time. Look and see if you have any video files in the game folder Saturine -- I see none. When thief quits playing cut scenes I just go to the video folder and play them direct from there to see what I'm missing. Apparently here I'm missing the whole folder.

Saturnine,
Sorry to disappoint you, but the blame is most likely your Voodoo video card. 3dfx has been out of business for a year and a half now. As a result, there is no such thing as up-to-date drivers for voodoo cards. Unless you get third party drivers, in which case, all bets are off. I'll sell you a used GeForce 256 DDR card for $30. It works fine as long as you turn some of the details down.

Howie-
I'm pretty sure all the fmv sequences are .BIK files (Bink Videio format). If you don't see them in the directories, they are probably packed into the main datafile (morrowind.esm). They may be available in unpacked form on the construction set disk.

Unknown method in YAN.txt :erg: Yeah, I also had a problem at 1st; it kept saying the file was corrupted. I suspected it might just be how Netscape (the browser I'd used) downloads it, so I hacked together a quick-and-dirty util to pull the file down for me and it worked just fine then. It must be something about how Netscape perceives the file; maybe IE will work better, I didn't try it.

I still don't get it, I recently replayed Gabriel Knight 3 and that uses Bink Video and works fine. :weird:
