************mild spoilers for those of you who haven't met Vivec yet*************
Almalexia is supposed to be sympathetic and compassionate, but advance mutterings suggest that SS may have to be put down like a foaming dog :)
Actually I've just met Vivec and I'm not going to kill him after all; there was something ever-so-slightly odd about him, but he seemed genuinely sorry for what he had done and willing to make amends (including sacrificing himself to save the people of Morrowind if necessary) so I've decided to let him off. I did bristle a bit when he said he didn't care whether or not I believed his side of the story, but I suppose several millennia of power and adulation have understandably gone to his two-toned head somewhat. He wasn't half as bad as I'd been led to expect, anyway (ditto Mr Curio)
A few questions, if I may:
-How come Vivec's writings say that he doesn't know whether you really are Nerevar reborn or not-I thought the moon-and-star ring was final, indisputable proof?
-What's all this about trying to kill me, none of the Ordinators have ever attacked me.
-How about those interminable Vivec's sermons books, do we know if they're completely made up or is there some truth to them?

Well, as you receive the Moon-and-Star from a shrine dedicated to Azura's visions, it's always possible that she just tinkered with the 'lethality' spell that Nerevar had the Dwemer put on it. I think only Azura knows exactly how much truth in it there is, and I doubt she's going to fess up ;)
Re: the Ordinators, they didn't attack me either; I did the Hortator quests 1st so I built up a sizeable 'tolerance buffer', though. (For that matter, I was also the Primate of the Temple both times.) I suspect hat either a) others didn't do so, and got bitten when they, the All-Nerevarine-nothing-Hortator, walked into town, or b) they'd been 'harvesting Ordinators in the 1st place, so they were jumped when they walked into town.
As to the Sermon books, it's my opinion that they're ravings, inspired either by an over-inflated ego or God-quality hallucinogens (Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds, anyone?).

Yeah, I wasn't attacked by the Ordinators either. Plus, I was very low levels of the Thieves' Guild and House Hlaalu. I also did the Hortator quests first.
The 36 Sermons do contain (mostly) the truth, in a kinda sugar coated kind of way (i.e. very biased towards the Tribunal). What do you expect from a warrior-poet anyway? ;)

They contain the truth? How do you figure? *curious* Btw, I'm not suggesting we get into it again on this thread ;) I just can't see how Vivec claiming to be of divine birth, that Almalexia was never Nerevar's wife, that Nerevar was always Vivec's flunky, etc, etc, etc. can be considered anything but vaguely akin to the truth in a "6th-cousin, 4 times removed" kind of way.

I admit that some of the Sermons are not 100% true. That's not to say that the entire collection contains no truth! Basically, the parts where Vivec et al were not God-like have been changed. And perhaps the timeline has been jiggled around a bit. (Of course, it apparently contains hidden messages that reveal, at least in part, the reason why the Dwemer vanished. This is probably speculation, since no-one has managed to find these messages ;) ).

Vivec claims to be of divine birth? But that's at odds with the Temple's own doctrine on the subject, for crying out loud-they say he achieved divinity through study and patience (or something similar) Hasn't anyone in the Temple noticed this? That's outrageous, he needs a good spanking (not in a kinky way tho)
BTW, does anyone know how many books there are in the 2920 series, and where I can find them all? They sound like they may be more accurate, especially since some Temple lackey described them to me as "heretical" :)

Thanks, that's a very helpful page :)
