I've been wondering what the nomenclature for the towns and stuff means. There's "Molag Amur", "Molag Mar", "Tel Aruhn", "Tel Vos" and "Vos". "Molag" and "Tel" are obviously prefixes of some sort, so what do they mean? Whose language do they use? Is any of this information available online?

Molag
It means "Fire," as Gentleman Jim defines "Bal Molagmer" as "Stone Fire Men."
Tel
It most likely means "Tower," because the word comes naturally when thinking about the organization of Telvanni towns, not to mention that a few of those towns are named after their lords, either the original lord or the current one, or after a town in proximity to the tower.
For a sort of translation project, I know there's one out there, but I can't recall the exact thread in this forum where it's mentioned... Search for "Var var var" in the forums or in Google to see if you can find it. If all else fails, try following the links at Xanathar's page or the UESP (both accessible by the barely-breathing m0use.net -- you have to use the IP addy now).

I always thought 'Tel' was just a shortened version of 'Telvanni' and pretty much meant that the town was under Telvanni control. Though the Tel in Telvanni could mean tower...

I think it's really interesting finding out the meanings of in-game words sucha s the ones you mentioned, PlaneShifter...the word "Ruhn" for example means "home" in Aldmeri (High Elven). Hence Ald'Ruhn = Elder Home and Kogoruhn = Unbreakable Home (a bit of irony there).
The best Elder Scrolls dictionary I know of is the translation page at (
