I don't usually rely on spam mail to find out what's going on in the world, but when I received a spam email with the same title as this thread, I was intrigued.
A quick google search revealed the following news story which may be of interest to Deus Ex fans:

While this technology is undoubtedly pretty cool, I can't say I am particularly psyched about its large-scale deployment. It's an easy step to go from listening for gunshots to listening to what people say...
On that note, I bet the Big Brother Gordon Brown's government began wishing they had enough gun crimes to deploy ShotSpotter nationwide the moment they heard about it.

Nahh, they're not so much interested in what you say, but who you know. I'm sure they're quite happy just monitoring all phone call, email, and Facebook contact details for now.

Assuming your location is indeed the US, I think you'd better be sorry for yourself... Gordo and Wacky Jacqui may
try to become thought police but that's nothing comparing to what Dubya
has done. Or, in short, what D'JK said.
Not to mention the first city completely wired with ShotSpotter, as mentioned in the article TheCapedPillager has linked us to, happens to be in the States :p
