Fishing must be more realistic... Then I will waste +30 hours of gameplay for fishing.
* fishing-rod must be placed near water (one end to ground another to water);
* waiting...
* some sound or/and visual clues of fish-bite (splash of water, tremble of fishing-rod, etc);
* strike on fishing-rod with hand-cursor (strength and suddenness have effect)
* if we catch fish then it appear on ground near or far from fishing-rod
I think implementation of such fishing is not complicated, but fun of fishing is tremendous! Arx have very realistic and "sweet for feelings" environment. There probably many lake and rivers. Ahh... Sit on shore, feel warm water...

Yeah, I agree that some feedback about how successfull a fishing attempt is would be usefull. He must also have some pretty nifty tackle to be able to catch 2 fish simultaneously in shallow water ;)

I once managed to catch 2 fishes at the same time in a bathtub.

Dear Sir,
I am writing this in response to your topic in this forum, which stated:

As the head of ARCSS (Advanced Rapid Cooking Simulator Society) I would like to take the opportunity to inform you (and the other members that lurk around the fire) that ARX is a short form of ARCS, which stands for Advanced Rapid Cooking Simulator.
In no way does the ARCS acronym indicate fishing, because otherwise it would be Advanced Rapid Fishing Simulator, or ARFS. And we all know it isn't.
The same for anyone wo thinks he can "entertain" him or herself in other "fun" activities, like hunting, planting apple trees or breeding chicken. Cooking is a serious matter, indeed. Getting the ingredencies is a mere neccesity and should involve as little time as neccessary, usually the one of other people.
We will not stand for these unsolicicted "outdoor" sports.
Thank you for your time,
Tels

To the best of my knowledge, the founding father of ARCSS resides in Limoges where he is also president of the FSB (<i>Frog Strafing Backwards</i>) society.

Even though USA is probably the country of Fast Food, France IS the country of cooking (La Cuisine, oui Monsieur!).
And I'm glad someone in here is conscious of that and will help me to parry this putsch in the ARCS Society, founded by myself, and therefore, of which I am the natural head.
Twisty, my trustworthy fellow, I'd be glad to have you as my kitchen boy.
Chef Xman, Limoges (La France).
PS: Non mais des fois, faut pas déconner non plus. :cheeky:

French people are gay. :D

If twisty were a girl, I'd be even more glad to have "her" in my kitchen (and elsewhere... :sly:). :p
I'm not gay, I'm mellow. :D

:grr: Ask about fishing and as result get sex-chat... Hmmm, interesting...
So, how about enhanced fishing? Do you want this feature in game or not?
xman on 17/4/2002 at 15:43
That's exactly what I thought when I saw what your post turned into. :)
OK. My opinion about enhancing fishing... I could be nice indeed.
However, this is obviously not what the game should focus on.
And, as we all know that Arkane guys have much work till the game is released (although they already fixed a lot of the bugs that we found), they shouldn't spend too much time on it.
But even if they can't spend more time to improve fishing much in Arx1, it would definitely be a plus in Arx2. :)
