whether or not this is racist is debatable--especially when the cook who put the meal together and created the sign is black--but at the very least it is a pretty boneheaded thing for a largely white corporation to do
o__o
* what is the definition of "racist", because if racist means that the contents of the meal were chosen accordingly with the racial culture involved in the "black month" event, how is it a "pretty boneheaded thing"
* how is it even a thing
* what is wrong, i honestly don't get it

GOOD. I'll be googling for a picture of his face too. For being such a gigantic pussy and getting that poor cafeteria chef in trouble. I think I'll get a good workout today :p .

It's racist because it plays off American black stereotypes. It's not racist because those foods are common among American black households. The tension between the two of these creates a potential mess that any corporation would be idiotic to touch.
I'm not necessarily arguing that all this is racist--in fact, I think everyone, including the whistle-blowing Questlove, feel that things have been blown out of proportion--but this isn't just a case of controversy being seen where none actually is. If I witnessed something like this I wouldn't immediately cry "racism" but I would wince and wonder how it got through approval.

People see racism everywhere these days. Aren't those just examples of traditional African American cuisine?
Jesus god almighty, he's like a character from Bamboozled.

Jimmy FUCKING Fallon.
The Roots made themselves (widely) known as a cognizant, subversive, and generally excellent band long before Jimmy Fallon said "o hai guyz." I love the fact that you clearly didn't know who the Roots were, and still felt like your contrived moral outrage was still somehow relevant to any discussion of racism whatsoever.

Ah, I didn't suspect the whole "fried chicken + watermelon" stereotype would be common outside internet image boards. Guess that's the reason non-Americans will have a hard time understanding this one. Thanks.

They'll get mashed and beaten with my fork. I'll eat it all just the same, food is food. Our stomachs certainly can't distinguish what racism is. Food is food, we should listen to our stomachs more, and not our racist brains.
