it gets a bit iffy.
What's iffy? He's extending the lifetime of a civilization that is far more prosperous and technologically advanced than any other civilization at that time. Although I don't know if the Dwemer had any sort of direct involvement with other races such as curing disease, etc., it would certainly be reasonable to assume that they were helping other races.
All in all, it's not a terribly nice thing to do to grant immortality and power to anyone, simply because power drives greed.
However, when that kind of power is status quo, much less corruption would occur than what would happen if a great amount of power was given to one person or a group of people. Also, by doing this, Kagrenac was simply nullifying most of the suffering that occured in his race, and by rebuilding Lorkhan, he would've taken away the suffering that inevitably occurs when the Chimer would fight the Dwemer, invincible or not.

Iffy. You know... um.... er... iffy. Sorry, I'm at a lack of words here. Are you saying I've been using that word for the past 10 years and Americans don't even know what it means? Great. None of them even said anything -.-'
Like I said, it just depends what he was going to do. The texts that I've read make out the Dwemer as evil. I think it's far more likey they would have used their power for conquest sooner or later. But we'll never know because Kagrenac screwed up.

Iffy. You know... um....
I meant "What's iffy about it?"
The texts that I've read make out the Dwemer as evil.
And what are their reasons for doing so? And no, I don't mean "Think about it," I mean post an actual reason that they can be considered "evil," from a purely secular viewpoint.

*shrugs* To tell you the truth I've been trying to figure that out myself. I guess it's just a viewpoint.

hmmm I wouldn't say that the Dwemer were the evil ones but why would Kagnerac build the tools in the first place but the real evil ones are Vivec, Soth Sil and Amalexia since they murdered(could have) Nerevar and locked up Dagoth in Red mountain to use the tools to make them man-gods and now being a man-god himself from the heart of Lorkhan(I think) and being locked up has made him insane and wants to get revenge
that's how I see it and I maybe wrong but that's my opinion on to what happened

Well... There's no proof Nerevar was murdered by the Tribunal. They also didn't lock Dagoth Ur up. From what I can remember, Dagoth Ur kept the tools while the soon-to-be Tribunal took Nerevar out of Red Mountain. When they returned, Dagoth Ur attacked them using Kagrenac's tools and drove them out of Red Mountain. The tools were stolen back though, and used every now and then to fight Dagoth Ur, until they were (again) stolen.
If I had the game running I could make all of that a bit cleaner... I just did that from memory. Just remember, Dagoth Ur used to be a good guy. Nerevar, Vivec, Almalexia and Sotha Sil trusted him with the tools.
