I'm forced to admit that since Iron Man, I'd pay $10 to lurk in a darkened theater with popcorn and watch RDJjr strip to his skivvies and act like a loon... while reading the phone book.
But I will be asking for my money back if he sticks to the moron script.

Strangeblue, I can understand that. I might just do the same for a few of the ladies now on screen. And for the same unstated reasons. :ebil:
There may be snow on the roof, but there's still fire in the furnace. :)

Just saw it yesterday.
tBM can stuff it, because this is the best thing Guy Ritchie has made since Snatch. And even if it's not exactly true to Doyle's work (which I've never read, and can't comment on), Downey Jr makes a fantastic Holmes who appears constantly distracted by his own brilliance. Jude Law counters that with a very staid Watson that provides Holmes with the stability he desperately needs.
The fight scenes are handled appropriately enough, because they're shown to be an intellectual endeavor on Holmes' part. He narrates through each fight before they happen, which shows how his observational skill is what's getting him through: "Head cocked slightly--Deaf in left ear. First point of attack. Second, attack throat to disable vocal chords to prevent calling for help..."
Highly recommended!

Dorian Gray was also horrible.

Tonamel I saw it this past weekend, too. It was not my pick, but I went along anyway. I was very surprised by how great the movie is... one of my top picks of the year. Very rare to have Hollywood do a blockbuster action flick that actually has some intellectual content, good acting, and an intriguing story.
Two thumbs up! :thumb::thumb:

So the 3D screenings of Avatar are all sold out and require four-day advance bookings (yet they don't say so on the websties, noooo, we can't have that!), so my birthday movie this year was Sherlock Holmes.
It was quite fun. Absolutely no surprises about some things, but then... If you don't know who the shadowy figure in the top hat is, why are you in the theatre?
On another note: Bits in the trailer that were not in the film? Stop that shit, whoever is responsible.
