Yeah - Falwell was the worst kind of shit imaginable. There are Christians in America that are actually decent, tolerant, and normal, but Falwell was the face of the Church in this country for so long that practically any religious movement or person was painted with a broad brush because of his ass hattery.

Wonder if the media will have the guts to say anything bad about him?
Nah, they'll probably just say "he was a controversial figure but much loved by lots of people" or something.

Even when I was religious I thought of him as a bigot disguised as a man of faith. Good riddance is right. I hope he is Satan's butt plug by now.

Not even in death is one truly safe from the wrath of commchat.
Goodbye Reverend Falwell.

Well, if you truly despise someone when they're alive, why bother with hypocrite tears when they die? If an asshat dies, that doesn't make his deeds when he was alive any better.
I say good riddance.

Maybe so, yet I wouldn't exactly go around telling people that it's wrong for them to mourn his death. I on the other hand, believe that the world is a better place without that lunatic hate-monger.

I, on the other hand, have no problem with going around telling people that it'll be wrong to mourn, say Osama Bin Ladin's death.
The only difference between him and Jerry, is one of degree.

Ko0k, I certainly wouldn't tell anyone who was personally close to Falwell (his friend, family member or somesuch) not to mourn him, but I didn't realise TTKetc. was one of them.
EDIT: Actually, I didn't even tell anyone not to mourn, just that others have equal right to un-mourn ;)

Hm. Just as Hitler preached that it was okay to hate in the name of Aryan pride, Falwell preached that it was okay to hate in the name of god. Maybe he deserved to be executed for treason (attempting to rescind the separation of church and state) and blasphemy. In that sense, I'd say I concur with Swiss Mercenary.

That ain't treason - that's closer to asking for an amendment to the constitution. A very bad one, but perfectly legal.
