I'm currently in the Morag Tong and have attained the rank of 'brother' after accepting and completing quite a few writs.
For those of you who don't know the ranks are as follows-
Associate, Blind Thrall, Thrall, White Thrall, Thinker, Brother, Knower, etc
Now during my ascension to the rank of Brother I only did the writ quests leaving the 'special duties' quests untill a point where I was confident in my characters abilities.
I have now started to do the 'special duties' quests and have completed them up to and including the quest to tell some Dagon cultist to stop helping Dark Brotherhood members (you eventually kill him and take his belt of sanguine martial craft).
I know that I have to collect all the sanguine items BEFORE becoming the grand master or else I've failed the quest.
My question is at what rank do you become Grand Master? Is it after Knower?
I have to increase on of my major skills by 2 levels to become a 'Knower' so after i do should i not ask for advancement until i've handed in all 27 sanguine items (assuming the next level is Grand Master)?
Thanks :)

Grand Master is the last rank you attain.
And, you DON'T need to find all 27 Sanguine items before becoming Grandmaster. That's a side quest much like the ones you can undertake for the guy near the altar at the Morag Tong hideout in Vivcc.

Yes grand master is the last rank but what is the rank before it?
In regards to the sanguine items i ment that you can only complete the 'side quest' of collecting all the sanguine items by handing them into Eno the current grand master. If you become grand master before handing all the items in Eno will be dead and unable to recieve any more items.

If you go into your Menu screens, and scroll down through your Skill points, you'll find the Faction list. Mouse-over the Morag Tong listing, and it will tell you what the Next Rank is, as well as what skills you need to achieve it. So, that's not a direct answer to "what's the one before Grandmaster," but at least you'll see Grandmaster coming before you accidentally get promoted.
He's not necessarily dead. There's an option to let him live and to simply "retire." But, even if he's still alive, I don't know if you can still complete the Sanguine quest after he's retired. I didn't manage to find them all.
Yes your right i should just pay to advance two levels in light armour to get promoted to 'knower' and then see whether the next rank is Grand master.
The reason i haven't is because I was unsure whether the rank of Grand Master was achieved like usual promotion or whether the current Grand Master challenges you as soons as you become a 'knower'.
Your're right in what you said in the spoiler you do get the option but from what i've heard
he eventually disappears on his own volition taking the sanguine items with him
this is why i have to collect and give him all of the sanguine items before becoming Grand Master.
Besides I want his fancy robe. :ebil:
Thanks for your help :)

Really? I haven't seen it in any shops so it must be a rare 'common robe'...

If you want one that bad, go taunt a Morag Tong in Sadrith Mora that's wearing one. (He's isolated from the others)
