Well, I have been moving on up in the Morag Tong, but I killed an important Telvanni member in Vivec (on a writ), named ____ Drenim. After I'm done with the Morag Tong, will I be able to even join the Telvanni? Or is that closed from me forever...

You can usually bribe them into letting you join. If that doesn't work... charm the pants off the <s>guy</s> gal and see if<s> he'll</s> she'll let you join.

Just took a peek at Arara Uvulas's "join House Telvanni" dialogue (she's a Mouth in Sadrith Mora) and didn't see anything that would prevent her from letting you join. Telvanni are pretty much a 'might makes right' anarchistic mob, anyhow.

*grin* Re: your spoiler, ayup; if you're on the path to Hortator and you kill every single Telvanni Master you can still get their Hortator item and the status.
