Great pics Phydeaux. This is one of the benefits of living in locations that experience extreme weather - the grandioseness of it. Shame it sometimes comes with other crap...

I was in Tucson last year and even the cactus was shriveled up. Now floods. And I don’t care what they say about it being a dry heat. 110 F is damn hot. Sorry for the flooding though.

Ahh....rain. Flooding and all, I would kill for some of that right now.

I did not like Tucson. Too hot and dry for this midwesterner. But I did like the northern part of AZ. Except for all the fires.

dunno that i actually "hate" it... offhand, i can think of about 49 other states i'd rather live in. however, after NYC and Hawaii, everything falls short.

Hey flooding apart, you have a nice corner backyard with a lot of side view.

Excellent pictures.
In the interests of camera geekery, I've gotta ask what kind of digicam you have?

I never lived in Tucson but I've been out there at least once a year for the past few years. In fact one year I think after tallying it up I spent almost 2 months out there one year over the course of a year. So in a way I consider Tucson a home away from home. Do I qualify as an honorary Tucsonite?
Those are cool pics from a lightning storm and remind me of one time I was there during monsoon season. I had booked an early flight in with the hopes of getting some hiking in on Mt Lemmon. I went straight from the airport to the top of Mt Lemmon and got caught up in a monsoon with lightning. Needless to say I headed back to the car fast. There was another time during monsoon season where I was on top of Mt Lemmon and a cloud rolled through. The temperature dropped considerably and I was actually shivering in summer in Arizona. Good times.
Tucson is a cool city if you know where to go and as far as outdoorsy stuff you get a variety of both desert and forest all in a short distance.

I love it actually. I'm one of the weird ones who prefers the heat; I'm out there riding my bike every day (except in the rain) in the 100+ degree heat. I've made it through entire winters without having to resort to wearing long pants outside (I stick with shorts). I lived in CO for 6 years and IL (near Chicago) for 12, and I've had enough of the cold. I miss snow though, although that freak snow "storm" we had last winter was pretty cool.
