Yeah, I've got the more recent one. (I originally wanted to get the XB270HU; they were reducing one at a reduced rate because it'd been displayed in the shop, but when I got it the display was completely borked, so I got the newer one instead.) Since it's an issue that a few people have encountered, I suspect it's due to the interplay between a bunch of factors, so I prefer alt-tabbing or switching the screen off/on when it happens to returning it, because I'm far from sure it'd resolve the issue.

Since we're talking about monitors - I was looking forward to OLED monitors for a while, but after a year of being in development hell, Dell have finally cancelled theirs, and there doesn't seem to be anything else coming in the near future.
Right now I have an Eizo EV2436W - a rather expensive 24" IPS screen - which is fine, but the dark colours on IPS screens are simply not very good. I'd love to have those OLED true blacks.

My new monitor is a VA panel, which generally does a better job of black level uniformity and contrast. The trade off is that you do lose some viewing angle clarity compared to IPS, but you have to look it from a fairly sharp angle to see the washout, especially compared to TN, which can shift colors on you depending on how you move your head.

I have this occasional issue where the screen takes a vertical line that's perhaps 3-4 pixels wide from the middle of the screen and for some reason shifts this to the left or right margin. This persists until the screen mode changes (or I switch the monitor off and on again). I've seen this mentioned a couple of times on forums. No idea if it's a G-Sync issue or an Acer issue or if it's to do with my Nvidia card;
.
I have a Acer Predator Z35. I've seen the exact same problem. Probably 5 times or so in a year. (Note, I don't play games as often as I used to do. Damn job). I've read more people have the problem. The Z35 is so big and heavy that I didn't want to RMA it for just that.
Renz, if you got a little more money to spare, buy a hardware calibration device. I was slightly disappointed with the blacks and the shadows on my new Z35, when it arrived. (It's also a VA panel). After I hardware calibrated it, a month later, the screen was perfect. Huge difference. Well worth the money.

Yeah, my previous monitor was a VA, and it had noticeably better colours despite being a "cheaper" model. It was only 1280x1024 though.

Man, $150-$200 for one. Can I just borrow yours?

I got a Spyder 4. It was under 100 euros. It seems the 5 is more expensive. Everybody told me to get the other brand, but this was good enough for me. Also, they come in different flavors, but buy the cheapest. The difference is the software, and the speed of calibration. The cheapest one is good enough.
I'd lend you mine, but transport cost across the ocean is probably not much less than buying one. When I bought mine, I'd thought I could use it to help friends and family. I turns out most people don't car about colors. Weird.

Just put it in a styrofoam crate, write "HUMAN ORGANS" on it, and ship it that way. You'll get a huge discount, and have it delivered express to boot.
On a serious note, I'll definitely consider it. Usually I'll spend my time in the trenches doing a good bit of software calibration to get things up to specs, which has usually netted me pretty solid results, if not a bit slightly biased for taste. I also have an SP4 now, which has a screen that comes precalibrated from the factory. It'll make tweaking that much easier, since I can use it to contrast changes with.

and the colors and contrast are all like popping in my face hardcore.
hope your eyes won't bleed because of sharpness/ crystal effect/ that even expensive lcds can have.
