I don't know whether this dislocated pin causes the problem you have, but there is definitely something wrong there. However,
Its supposed to be like that, I have several DVI cables and that "pin" is the same on all of them, so its OK!
And regarding the flicker, dont work about that, its normal. Its your monitor, as I can see the aoc logo pop-up several times, its looks a lot like the monitor is trying to adjust to the output from the PC, but I would just ignore it.. Can you borrow another monitor and video card so you test the following permutation's
* your monitor + another gfx card, on both dvi ports - record results
* another monitor + your gfx card, on both dvi ports - record results
* another monitor + another gfx card, on both dvi ports - record results
The main thing is it comes up with in DOS (the white text on black background) and when the windows login window appears and I assume you can work away in windows..? if it flickers in windows then the 2nd dvi port maybe faulty, but do the test above for me as well.

But the AOC logo never pops up like that & output message saying 'DVI' appears instantly during the graphic card boot screen if I connect it with the working DVI port, which I believe is normal.

Unfortunately, I don't have nor could I borrow any spare graphic card or monitor. I will try another DVI-D cable & check if these symptoms show up again. If they do, then contacting a pro would be the right option.

No such flickering occurs when working in Windows.

Bikerdude is right - I just verified it with a DVI cable we have here. On both connectors, this particular pin is shorter than the others. So, forget about what I said above!

There's one more thing. This morning when I was inside the bios looking at some values, the monitor turned off by itself for a 2-3 seconds & then turned on. This happened like 4-5 times after which I restarted the pc. What's that supposed to mean ? I still have the cable plugged to the leftmost port.

monitor then, either there is a setting you can change in its menu or there is a problem with it.
