the new Daleks...To be honest, they seemed to be very much the original variety - possibly intentional. The episode was alright on the whole although I wouldn't class it as exceptional and yup - looks like Matthew's link may be onto something.

I was actually pretty disappointed. I was hoping this would be a classic ep building on a strong start. Like "dalek" back in the Eccleston days.
But the bit where they stopped the android guy exploding by making him feel human was just... lame. How did his feelings have anything to do with Dalek control of his power source?
And it felt kinda like the story ended after 35 mins then they just hung around a while. Otjherwise like PotatoGuy says it was all a bit ordinary. Daleks on ship, daleks escape. They did sort of have a "victory" in that oh look, here are some new Daleks ready to plague us all. But since the show is always happy to conjure up survivors whenever they want a dalek story, that doesn't really change anything.
So the only high note for me really was that weirdness at the end.

Oh great, the kind which are defeated by flights of ascending stairs are back.

I enjoyed it at lot, I think think both the Doctor and Amy are superb but Private Eye had an interesting point about the new Daleks.
In 2005 BBC Worldwide (the commercial arm) made £15 million in Dalek toys, had another a big return from the black Daleks in 2006 and again from the red and gold Supreme Dalek in 2008.
And now we have a whole new set for the kiddiewinks to collect. ;)

I thought the new Dr Who (when Ecclesie started with Billy Piper) was really quite lame. Lame special effects, plots, jokes, just lame. Chris was great though (although I can't stand Piper).
Sooo I decided to watch this just to see and yes it was far, far better than any of the previous episodes I'd caught. Although I liked Tennant I hated the episodes. Smith was surprisingly good. They seem to have made a good choice with the Drs every time to be fair. The rest of the cast was good though Amy's character (in the first episode) is rather nebulous so far.
Sadly I find myself unable to forgive the lame effects though, especially the godawful designs of both alien races. Ffs, don't they have anyone with imagination on the team? If they improved this it might be good all round.

I, personally, am a little bit jaded with the overuse of the Daleks. A story every few years with these guys would be fine but at the moment they're popping up with depressing regularity. I mean, with the re-appearance of the incredibly menacing Daleks during Ecclestone's tenure it was seen as a tv event and now it just seems so-so. Even more so with the new iDaleks we saw last Saturday. Did Apple have a hand in their design?

Sylvester McCoy. Lest we forget. I swear to god the BBC introduced him (along with the awful stories and Ace) as a mean to kill the show off for good.

Amy Pond is quickly working her way towards becoming my favorite Doc's companion. There's jst something about herI like - she's the right type. Tho I wish she would've stayed with Emily. Too fairytale? Well, Amy - too slutty.
New doc fairly likeable too, seems like it's happening all over again and I don't even mind.
Return of the weeping angels is the most exciting thing of all, so I'm preparing for a letdown. Hype means using those great emotions prematurely.
Uhm, that's about it. Daleks episode was a bit unclear on some things, but none that really bothered me. After the fourth season finale nothing could really top it anymore. Tho who knows.
Oh and my favorite thing is doc's new sscrewdriver. Green Is The Colour.
My least favorite thing is the new tardis. Looks too... woody.
Intro song - way more alien, oldschool I guess, but It'll take a good while to grow over the old one.

I thought it was Amelie, not Emily.
Anyways, the reason she's tops is she doesn't look thick (Billy) isn't to glam and looks like the nice girl you met in a bar last week.
