(GUI is, of course, a term used loosely here)
Yeah.. so, I'm trying to find a way to modify the menus, dialog borders, buttons and cursors for my total conversion I'm gonna be working on. I found the images on the CD (cursors only so far), altered them the way I wanted, put them in the proper folder (Morrowind\Data Files\Textures\), loaded it up and nothing had changed. So I've been posting around. One guy said the only way he found that this worked was to copy all the files from the CD onto your hard drive in their proper folders, and change a line in the morrowind.ini file so that the value was -1 (I can't remember what it was off-hand). Instead of changing anything, it made it crash; sometimes before even opening, and sometimes right after the intro video before the game even really started loading the data files.
So.. er..
any ideas? =(

I believe that variable is "TryArchiveFirst." As for modifying the GUI, I don't know why you'd want to, nor do I know how.

The GUI is nice-looking, I'll give it that. But it's also hard to read sometimes, like when you're tired, or when you're looking at it on a TV; both of which I do quite frequently. I changed the font used in dialogue to the Courior_New_Font_Big, I think it was, so that I could read it better, but it's still a little funny-looking. Plus everything in that game is so..... so brown. I just wanted to add some green.

You can try going to the Wizards' Islands forum. I know that they've changed the crosshair. Post your question there if you don't get good replies here.
