of course, yeah, you can find the vintar: in the freedom warehouses in a building to the left (if I can remember), you get on for getting the NadeLauncher for Duty (which you don't have to steal from Freedom, you can find one in the bloodsucker village) or you take them off of some Monoliths when you go to the border to RedForest for the first time. I got 3 vintars b4 entering RedForest to disable the brain scorcher.

And Vintorez = Vintar. Vintorez is the real name, Vintar is the made up one used in the game.
There are several stashes that have one too. I ended up having 5-7 of them on my last game.

On my last game I found a stash with one for the first time. Apart from that, the only other Vintorez I had found on my previous games was with a Monolith guy, inside their base in Pripyat.

OK, well, anyway, if I remember correctly, enter the freedom base, make the first left after the bridge, and go into the second building on the right. It's one of freedom's big building, with a large chamber and a smaller one towards the end. The gun is hidden in the large chamber, pretty much right outside the path between the two chambers. Look down and hold R, it should highlight.

That's what I read in a guide, but when I checked it was just sitting on the floor. Perhaps it was because I was playing on 1.0001?

Just found it, and it was also on the floor. I've explored the place a bit more and also found a metal suitcase on the attic above it, holding 150 bullets for it.

Well, I think I found a way of always finding the modified Groza. It seems that this Dutyer named Barin has it, and he usually hangs around the Bar area. Sometimes he's killed by dogs, other times by anomalies, and other times, well, by me. I just came across him in the Duty control post in Garbage, so I stabbed him in the face to get his weapon. I don't know if none of the other Dutyers simply didn't see me doing it (I did it when no one was looking, plus, it was in the middle of the night) or if they just didn't care, because no one reacted. And I got me my favourite weapon in the game :cheeky:
