Simple question: do you usually find (
http://pwp.netcabo.pt/gpandrade/stalker.jpg) this weapon (I call it Groza because I've installed the mod to replace the weapon names by their real ones), and if yes, where do you find it?
I'm currently going through my fourth run of the game. On the first two I never saw this weapon. Then, on my third play, I found it in a body that was lying on that pit at the entrance of the Bar area, coming from the Garbage (the one with the dogs nearby). I absolutely love this weapon. Great range, decent precision, absolutely lethal, and with the extra of being modified to use the fairly common 5.45x39 rounds (which, in addition, are lighter than the other types of assault rifle ammo). This weapon completely changed my style of play, turning me into a much more aggressive stalker right from the early stages of the game, and I hang on to it for a long, long time (I also have the repair mod installed - actually I've installed it only because I didn't want to stop using this weapon), only abandoning it when I go to the Red Forest, when I choose the Vintorez.
After enjoying this weapon so much on my third run, when I started a new one, as soon as I could I went to the place where I had found it previously, hoping that it would be there again. To my surprise, as I was leaving the Garbage for the Bar, I found the weapon in the middle of the road, still in the Garbage area, right after going through the Duty control post, hovering in the middle of an anomaly. So, it seems that the location of this weapon is more or less random, sometimes not even showing up (to me, at least). That's why I'm curious to know if you usually find it, and where does it happen (sorry for the long post, btw).

The tundar 5.45 can be found in 2 places, AFAIK. Shopkeeper actually sells it, but only before you do the very first quest, and like all sell items, it's semi-random, so you'll need to do a bucketload of money earning followed by a bucketload of save/reloading to get it. It is, however, far far better then anything you get anywhere near the beginning.
The other place is in the bar. One of the duty guys has it - he tends to stay near the passage to the garbage, and occasionally patrols the area between the passageway and the main gate where the dog packs spawn. While shooting him or anyone else in the bar will make your life unpleasant, it's quite possible to get him killed by the dog packs.

I found it on a body in the spike pit during my firts playthrough. Tossed it in favour of the VSS vintorez though. Also, i demand a link to this repair mod! :D

Never found it. Theres alot of funky modified weapons like Scoped Sigs which can only be obtained from other Stalkers. I need to go on killing Sprees more often :devil:

I do. Like I said, it's small chance for him to actually have it on sale, so there will be lots of save/reloads, and earning up the money will be a pain. And he only sells it BEFORE you rescue the guy in the very first quest he gives you, so it's very very easy to miss.
He might also start reselling it later, as I seem to remember buying it from him much later in the game pre-patches. I'd have to look at the files to be sure, but I do know he sells it, but only before you finish his first task.
Probably much easier to get it once you can reach the bar, though I typically go right for the GP-37 and the Vintorez once the bar is open.

I usually can only get the Vintorez after completing the first Duty quest, which only happens much later in the game.

You know about the one hidden in the floorboards in the Freedom base, yes?
Edit: Wait...maybe I'm thinking the Vintar. Which is the Vintorez? The assault rifle that uses the same rounds as the vintar? If so, then it's real easy to get one by heading to freedom terrirtory and doing the quest at the border.

Actually, no, I didn't know about that hidden one... I always get my first one from the Duty leader, after accomplishing the quest to get the Bulldog.
And Vintorez = Vintar. Vintorez is the real name, Vintar is the made up one used in the game.
