I have ressurected this thread to put out a new offer to the community.
Dark Mod could benefit from some community assistance, we need to catch up a bit on texturing some models and in exchange for the hard work, we will make the models that community members texture for us, available for use in T3.
You don't have to become a permanent member, just texture a few models and we'll be happy.
Email me at recruiting@thedarkmod.com and let me know if you would prefer to be a contributor, beta mapper or a full member.
Format: TGA with RLE 24 bit Lossless Compression.
Large objects- Beds, barrels, chairs, bookshelves-
Diffuse: [ Min/Max: 512 x 512] Normal: [ Min/Max: 256x256]
Specular: [ Min/Max: 128 x 128]
Small objects- Keys, books, goblets, utensils-
Diffuse: [ Min/Max: 256 x 256] Normal: [ Min/Max: 128 x 128]

Specifically, we could really use people who are able to take existing models and create textures for them. We have a backlog of dozens of prop models that are sitting around waiting to be skinned.

I would love to help but I think the T3Ed community may need more help for the time being. I also have plans for more T3 maps which tie into my first fm.

T3Ed seems to be doing really well these days and once I get my installer out, hopefully that will make it accessible to far more people. :)
As I said in the main post, we're not looking for a huge committment. If anyone with texturing skills has time to take one or two models and finish skinning them...it helps us a lot. Right now, we're back logged. I guess we're too productive in other areas. LOL
Also, if anyone in the community has finished models that they're willing to contribute, feel free to do that as well...but like Spring said, we could really use some assistance getting the existing models finished up and ingame. If everyone who is capable of doing some texturing and modeling in the community pitched in and said, send me two models to skin, we could see some very positive results. Every helping hand ensures that the light of day for Dark Mod comes to us all, and comes sooner.

I've been thinking about helping, but I'm neck-deep in work at the moment and have a bunch of T3 stuff planned and in progress. My schedule next month is absolutely packed, but I might be able to do something in December.

Let us know. :) We would appreciate it. Skinning one or two models, or contributing a few textures would help us catch up in that part of the mod. Everything else seems to be running fine.

Texturing certainly isn't my favourite part of modelling (I find UVW mapping in particular incredibly tedious and easy to screw up if rushed), and it's not exactly my forte either. (I'm usually a programmer more than an artist, though I have 3D art experience.)
However, I'm willing to lend my time if you're willing to run the risk of me possibly submitting less-than-awesome textures, and/or taking longer than a more experienced skinner. :p Small, unimportant things would be best. Like rings or something; small enough that if the textures get stretched a bit, nobody will notice. :D Or things with lots of flat surfaces (like some furniture) that are relatively easy to UVW map.
I need to concentrate on assignments for the next 3 or 4 weeks anyway, so I probably won't email you until then. Unless I feel like procrastinating on schoolwork... Hey, the Dark Mod is more important than silly old school, right? :thumb:

I might be willing to skin something if it catches my interest. What do you need done? Do you have alpha images for it?

What format are your models distributed in? If I can get it into Blender I might be able to help, but I don't know how good the import filters for LWO or 3DS are.
Why don't you post pictures of your unskinned models and let people take on specific ones that match their own skill level?
Ziemanskye on 27/10/2005 at 11:07
Yeah, I'd like to help.
But I'm not great at texture creation - it takes me a long time and the results tend to be a bit poor.
Can model and unwrap props fine (so long as you don't want statues or things - I totally suck at people or part of people shaped things), so I guess this is a "Can we have more info?" call.
And would it be worth doing a sort of database on the website (a bit like the DXHD-TP), so people could email you about specific things, and they could be sort of "checked out" when people are working on them?
