Even though I don't risk anything, that's 'stricken' and 'to'.
Simply to cast away your puzzlement: GBM acted like that, with spelling errors and stuff in order to 'speak your language'. If you don't see what I mean, compare your posts with those of others, such as this one.

Well, I'm keeping the dagger with he foil, so there ) I can always make a sword as well though, and swap 'em when necessary. I never liked the idea of Garrett lugging a sword around. I think even a rapier would be more his style, I can just imagine him slashing a G into a set of cutains on his way out through a balcony.
For the Canadians here: I used Lightwave, it took me about 10 hours to model, and it's actually my first serious attempt at making anything decent, I usually get bored after about 10 minutes. Though I have been using lightwave on and off for about 2 years.
However, I am now going to go on and make a Keeper Assassin, and Hammers, Mechs, and whatever other THiefy stuff T3 throws our way, and maybe take up Deadmans suggestion of helping out FM autors with some intro scenes or whatever.
BTW here's a pic with some texturing done. There's still a lot of tweaking to do, mainly on the jacket and various items he has, I haven't done the skin yet. As you can see I swapped out the wrinkly armwrAps for solid bracers.

What you can see of his face looks a little like John DeLancie

if i may add my professional opinion:
the sword is a saber or rapier, call it what you will, and although it is the weapon of choose of many rouges in D&D games and such, in the time period i believe the thief era to be set in that sword is not practical nor invented, the heavy armor worn by guards is well enough protection of the renaissance sword you have master Garrett weld. I believe that a short sword would be more practical but because of the swinging in I and II Garrett does with his sword it does lead me to believe he has a long sword, anything bigger than that would be pointless for a thief
although it is not the really world and it is your own model so anything is possible

Very nice! I'm going to use these pictures to help me make my Garrett costume for Halloween, if you don't mind!
Very very nice.

i dont want to sound like a fuckass but, isnt garrett supposed to be wearing a hood, covering all his body, instead of a puny cape?
like some kind of trench coat(damn, i donno the real name of it in english)
but the rest, looks awesome
plebeian on 20/1/2004 at 00:18
It is a cloak, but he's still in the model pose so I can't drape it around him yet.
You're already starting your costume for next halloween? Damn, are you competitive or what. :ebil:
It's not a sword or a rapier, did you see the pic I posted - that small blade is a dagger with a foil, which is what I've given Garrett - and I hope they put a foil on this dagger in T3, he won't have a sword of any kind remember, so I'm kind of looking forward and not back. :p
Anyway, I'm glad you all like it, here's the latest renders, with the texturing almost done, it's still in the dead looking model pose but I'm starting to skin and weight it now, so I should have some cool looking action poses with appropriate backgrounds and lighting soon.

Actually, the instrument in question, and depicted, is a poiniard, Main Gauche, Stiletto, (many other names). It is triangular in shape and was used to slip into the crevices in an armoured warrior (the armpit, the neck joint, the groin, etc.) and was used to deliver the Coupe de grace to a fallen foe.
It became favored of assassins later in its development for its ability to be easily inserted into the chest between the ribs.
Such a knife, would actually NOT be the choice of a thief. A sturdier dagger, with the ability to pry, slice, and kill, would be more suitable.
The Stiletto, is a limited use weapon at best, and is best suited to stabbing. In skilled hands it could be used for parrying an attack by a light sword, but would most likely shatter if used by other than an expert for defense against a spathe, or broadsword.

it's the hilt that gets me, it's a renaissance style, unless i'm mistaken
