Mod problems.... - by Jordana

I've succesfully installed a few mods already such as the Area Effect arrows, Pretty Faces and Petshop. Now I want to install the Dual Wield mod and various others, and I can't seem to do it. I have read the readme files and searched other MW sites for help on installation and they are so UNhelpful; all they say is "extract the files into your Morrowind/Data Files directory" which makes it sound really simple. I've done that and the mods weren't showing up on the data files section of the start-up screen...it looks like some of the mods are more complex than others and have different sections to them which need to be loaded into different subfolders in the data files. I've tried that as well and when I tried the Dual Wield mod I get loads of error messages as soon as I go into the Balmora Fighter's Guild, and there is a big, luminous yellow area where the new weapons should be. If I try to equip any of the new weapons I get a no-smoking type red circle in my inventory. I'd really appreciate some help on this, I can't seem to find any helpful guides anywhere else, they're either too simplistic or too vague.
If someone could point me to an idiot's guide or something I could keep it for future ref.....

Almost all mods require different files to go in sub folders...
All .nif files go in the /meshes folder: These are the different shapes for weapons, armor, skins that you see in the morrowind world, if an object cant find the mesh, a giant yellow sign with an exclamation point will go in place of the object.
All .bmp and .dds files go in the /textures folder: These are the textures/designs for the meshes.
All .tga files go in the /icons folder: These are the icons you see next to their name when your crosshair is over the item. If the object cant find the icon, a smiley face with a red no symbol shows up instead.
And all .esp should go in the data files directory: These are the plugin files.
Those are the typical files in most plugins, some feature custom sounds that go into /sound/vo or /sound/fx etc... Usually if they have sounds, the author will zip them up in the subdirectories so all you need to do is unzip it to the data files or morrowind folder.

Thanks for your help but I'm still not having any joy. I did everything you said and I get error messages-specifically, 'Model Load Error', as soon as I go into the Balmora Fighter's Guild. Same big yellow area as before, same red circle where the new swords are supposed to be.
*bangs head against PC screen*
Also, is it necessary to rename some of the files in new mods so they don't overwrite other mod files with the same generic names?

When I downloaded the mod, everything was set to unzip in the /morrowind folder... then everything would drop in right, try unzipping the .zip file in that folder, and make sure you have subfolders active(it is already usually).
