I found the big block of mithril and tried using it in that crazy machine with the green laser things and it disappeared!
where did it go?
Somewhere else on the level? or up a couple of levels?, I presume this is the way to break it up, or if not, how? (pickaxe obviously doesn't work)
Also regarding the sword, should I make a two-hander or a sabre? do both work?

Mine did that too :erg: and I couldnt find a way to fix it, however I found chunks of mithril in the mines (I think). You just need two for the sword, I chose the double-handed one :)

Yes I found about 6 or 7 bits of metal at least as well, but you NEED mithril to kill akbaa, because if you read the ultimate waepon book it is the only metal that can be enchanted powerfully enough.

Both saber and 2-handed work. Here is a little spoiler if you want to know the stats:

The 2-handed does 30 damage and gives a big (around +8) AC bonus, and the saber just does 20 damage, so even with the best shield, the 2-handed is probably better.
