Missing meshes error in game and editor. - by Brad Schoonmaker

I was working on a project when for some reason an "artfile missing" message showed up while checking in game. I don't remember if I accidentally caused this, but when I tried to reconstruct a way for this to occur, I figured it was posible I did merely by hitting the object's description button. This alone seems enough to delete the selected .nif file and replaces the actual object with a giant '!' in a triangle in both the game and editor. This is very strange to me that if by not pressing cancel after doing this the game drops all references to the objects. I'm not sure if I did hit cancel, but it looks like I didn't even though I make it a habit to do so if I'm not sure of what I've done.
I was able to hunt down the missing file on the Construction Set CD, but it wasn't in the Morrowind directory on the harddrive. This shows that working with the editor can be as unsettling as playing the game with all it's bugs.
Originally, I was going to post this prior to figuring out what went wrong, but thought to keep looking myself. So, this was just FYI only.
