Hi, here's a little tip for the current bandwidth problem
U should try to cut down the page size to 15-20 posts.
Reasons:
- U gain by cutting down the filesize to transmit by half.
- The site will seem more responsive, because the server will spend less time for a connection.
- It will distribute the need for the bandwidth.
- No one has a need to read 40 posts at a time and no one does that. If some one is new to a long post and wish to read it fully, they propably have time to click some links. People familiar to a post will go to the end anyway and on most occations read only new posts.
Note that this would only be an optimization.
[Added after edit]
statistics:
filesize for a discussion with 40 posts: 112Kb
filesize for a discussion with 15 posts: 56Kb

If they do read all 40 posts, then by your own admision:
40 posts = 149kb.

Ok, I just took the size from a random post. It seems it was a little short... Thanks.

Okay, I have changed the max posts to 25 (the option is only for either 15 or 25, not 20), so let's see if that helps.
Thanks for the suggestion.

Well, it's a traffic distributive tweak, and hopefully will help to some degree. It probably won't 'save' you though.
