Basically, all black elements of the interface are transparent instead. I suspect it's something to do with one of 8 series' core features - that is fucking up anything ddraw related. Sadly, only fix I know involves turning off ddraw, but that also turns off d3d, which means you can't run SS2 at all.

Could you tell us what your system specs are? That would really help.

Oh right. I guess I don't really expect anyone to have a solution. It's actually not a big deal, if you try really hard you can pretend it's a next-gen feature.
C2D 6600, 8800GTS, XP SP3, dx9.0c, installed newest drivers yesterday, running only SHTUP and ddfix.

Have you tried downgrading your version of Catalyst? That's unfortunately, the only advice I can give you, as I haven't found my copy of SS2 to install, yet. It isn't exactly lost, I've just misplaced it.
However, I have an HD 4200, which I'm betting is far different from the 8800gtx. Still, if I were to get the same problem as you, it would mean a fault of the drivers.

Am I just too simple or is this what you're looking for?
ddfix.ini:
Code:
;Changes the way direct writes to the frontbuffer are handled
;SS2 players should set these options to '2' and '0xf81f' respectively
;Thief 2 players with corrupted in game text should use '2' and '0x0000'
;Players who experience slowdown with UseSysMemOverlay=2 should set both options to 0
UseSysMemOverlay=2
OverlayColourKey=0xf81f
I agree though, the transparent interface doesn't look bad at all.
