Beautiful, Aja. Dark, snowy, wintry nights are among the very few things I'll miss.
Curled up on a sofa in front of a burning fire, a glass of wine or an excellent single malt cusped in your hands as you lean against your significant other, watching out of a bay window as static falls from the blackness of the night sky. I have many memories of this.

Sometimes the grainy look can be good for the overall ambience of the image, although to be sure SLRs kick digitals ass in this regard and I'm still contemplating my next piece of kit to be a second-hand SLR.

That dim glow is the streetlighting reflecting off the low clouds, but it does a great job of silhouetting the skyline. Heavy midnight snowfalls are the best for walking in; they feel naturally hushed and introspective, especially with the deserted streets.
Most digicams take "noisy" images in low light, but I've found that an inexpensive tripod really helps things out. Using a SLR with slow B+W film can also net you some pretty decent nighttime images.
Good work on the pics. Keep at it.

Thanks, Aja! I really enjoy seeing snow pix since I don't get much here. You live in a beautiful place. :)
