I'm an Office 2007 user and use Access, Excel, Powerpoint and Word.
At first I found the GUI a little baffling but now I'm used to it (got used to it over a couple of months) I like it much better. If only Access was stable I'd be very happy with this 2007 version. Only cost me £17 too, which is a bonus.

Open Office is great except it does inexplicable and irreversible things when you try to use bulleted or numbered lists. Numbering pages consecutively between documents also involves a ceremony involving four virgins, a one-horned goat, and plutonium so I still haven't figured that shit out yet.

Which prop are you lacking?

Open Office is a great idea that just, only just, doesn't make it. If you are doing everything at home and don't require computer use at work and thus portability of documents it's great. I need to take stuff and from work and so it just doesn't cut it.

My goat breeding program still needs a bit of tweaking. Anything to stay away from MS Office.

Ribbon is extremely intuitive and easy to use - for anyone who never worked with Office before. And only for these people it seems.

Yeah, no.

Once you realise the concept it's very nice to use actually. Sure, it's a hassle finding all the stuff you used to use but after that initial hiccup I'd say it's one of the better design choices I've seen from MS.

I loathe it with intense something of something something.
They've basically made Word somewhat easier for casual users, and extraordinarily irritating for power users. Commands which used to be only a couple of clicks away can now take three or four times as many to access.
For example, to check if the current document is using a custom template used to be a simple two-click operation. Now you have to do the following sequence:
Office Button -> Word Options -> Add-Ins -> Manage -> Templates -> Go
Or to set the password for a document (without actually saving it) you now have to do:
Office Button -> Save As -> Word Document -> Tools -> General Options -> set password -> OK -> Cancel
I shit you not.
Also they screwed up the font rendering so that now the spaces between words seem much smaller than in previous versions. About the only thing I consider an actual improvement is the mini formatting bar that appears when you right-click on selected text.

I was forced to start using 2007 when my school switched over about a year ago. Absolutly fantastic in my opinion once you learn it. The problem is, Microsoft obviously changed too much too fast....and I STILL can't find that fucking help menu:mad:
