Daaamn, expensive for the ultimate edition (other prices aren't too bad), and 40 gigs?? No hope of ever putting it on my laptop.

Uncia: I could pick up a copy of Win XP Pro OEM for AU$219 (~US$165), and the home edition for AU$145 (~US$110)
Yeah, but that's OEM, which Vista will doubtlessly have at lower costs (and student and mass purchase discounts) also. Expensive, but not like the previous iteration was cheap either. :erg:

Why can't they understand that those who will be in the market for the uber-expensive version already have all the multimedia apps that they need, and that Microsoft will never make a built-in application better than one made by the company whose sole purpose is to make multimedia software?
I really don't think MS did adequate focus groups and polling here.
I guess I'll be getting the Business Edition.

And I'm just about to buy WinXP for the first time.. oh well.

I don't think those specs are bad at all, I expected worse.
Plus, afaik Vista will turn off the graphics interface when launching fullscreen applications, freeing up a shitload of resources for the fullscreen app to use.

Think of the loading times... :nono:
What happens when you alt-tab from the game? It reloads? Or does it disable all the features you bought the OS for anyway? What about windowed mode? An OS should be an OS, not a million application layers on top too. Its like the separation of church and state... which also is sadly being ignored.

Let's not jump into conclusions too soon, I'm going to keep an open mind until I have an actual reason not to.
