Goldblum is not dead.
As for Michael, wow. I don't really find this sad per se as his contributions to music ended years ago and he's spent the time since actively destroying his legacy, but he was a phenomenally talented man and an icon of my childhood. His contribution to modern music is beyond measure. Christ, how can a world not have Michael Jackson in it?
Upside: so begins his image rehab.

Sad thing is, I'm guessing it's pretty rare to have a heart attack at 50, you know we're going to find out that something else was the cause...

I remember seeing him on the Grammys when he did Billie Jean the first time and whipped out the moonwalk. I was in 7th grade - huge WTF moment in my life.
I also have to admit that if not for Michael Jackson, this white boy wouldn't have paid much attention to soul or r&b music. Because of him I've had the endless pleasure of discovering Sly & the Family Stone, P-Funk, Public Enemy, TLC, Mary J. Blige, Onyx, Prince, and lots of other "black" music that wouldn't have otherwise penetrated my Van Halen/Iron Maiden/Metallica induced fog as a kid.
I still think all the molestation stuff was bullshit. The guy had kids around him all the time, was rich, and therefore an easy target. Hell, it was shown over and over that the plaintiffs were previously involved in fraud, extortion, and other money grubbing activities, but for some reason everyone assumed the worst about MJ. I think he was just a guy who never got to be a kid, so he surrounded himself with kids and acted like a kid, and no one understood how abnormal his life was from the get-go.

I too, while not knowing all the "facts" of the situation, reckon the molestation and pedophilia charges against him were largely bullshit. It's ridiculous how cynical we can become and how willing we are to trash our cultural icons; there's a sad story to Michael Jackson's home life and the abuse he suffered as a child and the mental state he must have been in to alter himself as he had. I reckon the fraternizing with children was another escape from reality and nothing remotely sexual. Again, obviously I am not privy to all the facts of the situation and am judging it impartially.

Yeah! They were BULLSHIT for sure! I'm sure. Unfortunately there's always some starved that attempts everything to pull himself out of the mud, even ruining the other's life. This people would have to be killed, or at least brought to hardlabours for all the lifetime.

But even with the "alterations" we always forget that he wore makeup to cover a skin disease and that his head caught on fire during a Pepsi commercial shoot. Surely those issues had at least something to do with how freakish he looked. I know some of it came from his father telling him he was ugly as a kid, but I think there were also legit reasons for the way he often looked.

Wow; this one smacked the breath outta me. I can't believe it. Regardless of all the rumors & lawsuits, Michael Jackson was one in a million. Talented as hell, in spite of all his idiosyncrasies. He'll be missed. :(
