One of the best authors (
http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/entertainment/7711763.stm) Michael Crichton has died unexpectedly after battling cancer. He was 66.
In addition to being a doctor, he also made a name for himself as a director and producer. What a terrible loss. :(

Damn, I used to read his books all the time when I was younger.

The Terminated Man
That *is* a loss. These days, 66 is still a kid. The Andromeda Strain remains one of my all-time favorite books/movies. RIP. :(

Al Gore wins! :(

Ah man. Haven't read anything by him in a long time, but I recall that Prey was my favorite.
R.I.P.

Nobody did more to harm the fight against global warming. A few nice stories, but on balance, I think his passing is a Good Thing.

Wasn't it completely discredited? (the book, not global warming)
For me, I'm completely bummed by the lack of comedy title. Come on guys... :erg:
(that said, yeah it's a loss. My personal favourite is Sphere, although the film was shit.)

I loved Crichton's books as a teen, and I still enjoy reading 'Eaters of the Dead' every couple of years. He will be missed.

He'll be missed worldwide by CGI Dinosaurs trapped in shitty Jurassic Park sequels.
Seriously, Prey ruled, as did Airframe and most of his other stuff (with the exception of Sphere and the last book which were ass).
