but also very
listenableThat was what really surprised me, you can enjoy this song from the first listening. From the description I had the idea that it could be a bit more inaccessible than the songs from the first album. Thanks for the link, one album to look forward to.

Nice that they're doing something fun and weird. I didn't like the debut too much, fun to dance to in a club, but is irritating if you actually try to listen to a whole record of it.
Anyways, MGMT suffers from the "indie-disease", their vocals are annoying, whiny and purposefully off, which makes one crave for something aurally pleaseful. Only the backings on the new song were nice, they should just shut up and do the music, backing vocs and get a real vocalist.

Totally, totally agree. Not that I'm making some sort of comment on MGMT with this - I haven't listened to them all that much yet - but the ear-grating yelp of many Pitchfork-lauded artists of late tends to set me on edge - I couldn't really stand Cymbals Eat Guitars and a myriad other indie bands for this very reason.

I, myself, employ the soothing, dulcet tones of Peter Gabriel as an antidote for when the youth's music gets too weird.

Also: if anything deserves a thread of its own, it's the batshit crazy 4:16 that is "Flash Delerium." I'm impressed that it's as ever-morphing and schizophrenic as it is and yet the whole thing hangs together. It's weird and druggy and gonzo and but also very
listenable. Upon reaching its accelerating finale that practically consumes itself in galloping fury, my first instinct is to pop back to the beginning and give it another spin.
You convinced me to give it a try.

I realize you're more or less kidding
erm, drunk, actually :o
I'm glad to see someone taking a step away from the giant threads.

The song was impressive but rather out of context. I'd call it refreshing. I suppose the album could be good even though by itself Flash Delirium doesn't make me want to check it out, although I don't see the relevance of all this acid talk.

You don't like this part? Stick around, something else is just around the horizon.
This. It started good but I was not digging it about 1/2 in, then came back and redeemed itself
It also reminds me of a willy wonka movie

Off-topic, but it turns out Pink Floyd sued EMI to ensure that none of their albums were available on a per-track basis and won, as they convinced the judge that each album had to stand as a complete work (and had a clause in their record deal to provide that no singles were required).
Didn't it hinge on what was a record? With EMI saying it was the physical thing and therefore they could do what they liked with digital recordings.

I think I read that the judge upheld it on the basis that it undermined the band's artistic integrity.
