I'm not playing Metro 2033 until they cancel the X360 version and remove the English voice acting completely. And the PhysX cash-in nonsense for good measure. Fucking pandering trollops. *sweeps scarf haughtily, holds head high and exits*

Never, I just imagine I won't run into any Bayonetta fanboys in the STALKER subforum. Actually, I might very well run into some, i.e. 242, but at least I won't *know* I did

DX11 screenshots. The most obvious visual effects are the curves thanks to tessellation.

http://i.imgur.com/Dv9SBs.jpgIt seems odd that Nvidia are pushing DX11 this hard when they don't even have any hardware capable of it on the market. Is this is a sign that the GT300's will be announced fairly soon?

NVIDIA today announced that Metro 2033TM, the upcoming first person shooter from 4A Games, will support a number of advanced DX11 features with the latest generation of DX11 graphics cards, as well as NVIDIA 3D Vision support. Metro 2033 will also feature advanced, hardware accelerated physical effects using NVIDIA PhysX.
Gamers with DX11 cards will experience advanced Depth of Field effects as well as Full Tessellation on character models. You can see the results on the official Metro 2033 Flickr Collection at (

"Our engineers have been working closely with 4A Games to ensure that Metro 2033 takes full advantage of some of the spectacular effects made possible with the next generation of DX11 hardware," said Tony Tamasi, Senior Vice President of Content and Technology at NVIDIA. "The 4A Engine is one of the most advanced game engines we’ve ever worked with, and with DX11 enabled, Metro 2033 is undoubtedly one of the best looking PC games of 2010. Combine this with NVIDIA 3D Vision and PhysX and you will experience mind-blowing visuals."
Metro is scheduled for release in North America and Germany on the 16th March, Australia on the 18th March, and in the UK and the rest of Europe on the 19th March, on Xbox 360 and PC.

(

All PC versions of Metro 2033 will be powered by Steamworks, providing gamers with auto-updating, Steam Achievements, Steam support for in-game DLC, and more.
"Metro 2033 is an incredibly rich experience featuring a truly unique setting, haunting atmosphere and cutting edge graphics," said Richard Williams, THQ Vice President of Global Brand Management. "By leveraging the power of Steamworks and the reach of Steam, we are able to provide an even greater gameplay experience and expose the game to millions of gamers around the world."
Metro 2033 is available for pre-purchase via Steam. Those who pre-purchase the game will also receive one free copy of Red Faction®: Guerrilla. The game is slated for worldwide release the week of March 15 at retailers and via Steam. More information about Metro 2033 can be found at (

Steam support for in-game DLC
Hadn't seen that gem. I sure hope that, though Steamworks enables them to do it, they are not planning any DLC for Metro 2033.* Maximising profit over mentally challenged/naive customers is all good, but I expect eastern developers with a largely PC-centric overview, and especially people originating from the S.T.A.L.K.E.R team to provide a coherent and self-contained experience. Without releasing a stupid new quest adding two NPCs, a set of rooms and one new enemy one month after the original game.
Unless by DLC they mean expansion packs Call of Pripyat-like, reusing only a fraction of the original content, but that's obviously not what I'm ranting about.
* I see DLC as one of the worst things about the current gaming industry - a horrible economic model from a customer point of view, with developers spending time before release designing content specifically for later DLC and allowing marketing departments to finally have their say on the contents of the game ("no, not for release, we'll make it a DLC").
BUT BRIAR YOU MORON, you say, IF YOU DONT WANT THE DLC DONT BUY IT
> shut up
EDIT : hahaha holy shit the collector edition comes with an additional shotgun dlc.
