In Morrowind, your accuracy with a bow increases as your marksman skill goes up. The higher your skill, the better chance you will hit. In the original Thief game, because of the "realistic" physics of the arrow arc, player skill determined accuracy.
When you say "Had this level of physics" that doesn't imply a heavy arrow arc, that just implied there was an arc in the first place.
In that case you could still argue Stalker: Shadow of Chernobyl, a game that was suppose to be realistic as possible (even if it's lacking in some areas like vodka curing radiation) had a massive arc for their bullets. There where cases where I had to have what I was aiming at on the bottom of the scope of my rifle for it actually to hit. In later stalkers they added an upgrade system which made bullets arc less though.

It is still, higher skill in Marksman, higher chance for successful hit.
In Oblivion and Skyrim your character's skills have 0 effect whatsoever on whether or not you successfully hit with a weapon or spell, including ranged attacks with bows.
Thanks for playing and good luck with whatever nonsense you choose to make up and present as fact in the future.

Oh boy, I was wrong. The arrows in Oblivion still dont have the arc that Dark Project has, which is my original point about arrows. It is closer to the arc in Deadly Shadow, which was not really much of an arc at all. More like laser arrows.

Just call me some names, or beat me down, or try and look cool by suggesting that I have mental problems.
The physics of Thief archery are pretty far from realistic, unless Garrett's only doing quarter draws on every shot, and he'd be replacing his bow pretty regularly if he were abusing it that badly. Real bows and real arrows don't have even close to as much drop as the ones Garrett fires.

This "The arc isn't deep enough" thing is splitting hairs. There are such bigger glaring issues in T4 than the arc not being as big as you like. Do you even know if it's more realistic in thief or elder scrolls? I don't recall the difference between them being huge at all either.

I really have no idea, I was just trying to have a decent conversation for once. :)

Perhaps. But I think it's indicative of idiot-proofing and that's bad because NuThief will miss out on opportunities for satisfying gameplay - which makes me sad.
(

This is really simple -- in Thief, no matter how difficult the shot, when you did everything right you hit the target every time.
Accuracy upgrades in the reboot will mean either of two things -- you can do everything right and still miss or you can screw up and still hit.

Are the upgrades accuracy?
