In it's capacity as faux outrage - it illustrates Goldmoon Dawn's overstatement of the situation and thus is being used as a device to mock his cult-like reverence of Thief and the CRPGs that he believes inspired it.
No one is "spitting" on LGS's technology, pioneering or not.

I think theres some legitimacy to the idea that if they made the game solely to milk a old popular series, and the a lot of fans hate it but still buy it, it doesn't really change anything.

If it were simply a cash-in, they wouldn't have spent 5+ years futzing around with it. Whether we all think they're misguided about the direction they went in or not, they at least seem to be trying to make a good game.

With all the things that they stripped, the biggest being open level design, and how reboots where pretty crazy lately; I have reason to disagree.

The level design being "claustrophobic" doesn't necessarily mean they've simplified everything down to linear hallways just to push the game out the door to make a quick buck. Honestly, the original Thief was pretty cramped and claustrophobic too, yet it still allowed for plenty to do. Though I don't expect nuThief to be quite as freeform as it was.
I'll admit the load zones bother me. If they're the size of something like DX:HR or Dishonored, it's no big deal. But considering it sounds like they're trying to cram a game designed around next gen consoles down onto the current gen, we could get T3 sized levels...and that would suck.

Well, considering that every move you will make has been predetermined and then scripted, I should say so! LOLOL

And here I was all thinking I could pop in here and enjoy a decent, semi-intelligent conversation for once. Yeah, *&#% me, right?

It's not so much they want to rush out one as fast as they can. It just seems like they're trying to use a classic title because it already has a bit of a name and despite it seemingly being a completely different game than the original they still can call it a reboot.
I said this before, but it's like resident evil 4. It had similar elements from the older games and same characters but it was
not a resident evil game at all, and they probably just used the name because it would sell better. Honestly, they probably wont skimp on the game they'll just make it to fit the modern standard so it would be better in todays market, which is not really what I'm interested in.
The only reason the whole "If fans who are mad about it still buy it what did it achieve?" thing matters is because they try to lie and market it for fans of the series, and on top of that if the fans still buy it then their voice doesn't really matter at all, so they wont try to make any changes in future releases to make it more like the original games and will continue to lie. During RE5 being made Capcom lied to the fans and said they would make it more like the originals, and the series went downhill from there fast and now capcom is having a few issues however they've been relying on the Resident Evil series for years and a Thief game hasn't been made in a looong time. edit: I want to add that RE4 was a good game, so T4 could be a good game in it's own regard.
It doesn't really matter to me though because I don't think I'll even buy t4 until it's on a super lower sale, and if I wanted more of the thief games I could just play the dark mod. I'm more of just trying to validate the legitimacy of "Fan's are still buying it so what does their voice matter" argument.

When are you going to start posting videos of yourself playing through the game? You've clearly had it for quite some time now. Show us all of these predetermined scripted events you keep telling us about from your firsthand experience.
