Exactly, it's not trying to be a medieval/steampunk/whatever version of ArmA, and neither were the classic games.
Just go with it.
shh, it'll be okay
BUT DIDN'T YOU KNOW? THE ENTIRE POINT OF THE FIRST GAME WAS TO BE PHYSICS AND REALISTIC AND A THIEVING SIMULATOR. NOT JUST TO BE GOOD AND FUN TO PLAY. IT WAS HARDCORE REALISM AT ITS FINEST.

Didn't the use "realism" to argue a bunch of shit in thief 4, like no swimming because realistically Garret would get ill from it.

I was illustrating the fact that Thief, which came out a long time ago, indeed was advertizing the technology as well as the cool story with dark overtones. Why does everyone spit on the fact that LGS pioneered much of the technology that you gamers of today take for granted?!

MAN, THEY TOTALLY TALK ABOUT WHAT A PHYSICS SIMULATOR IT IS ON THE BOX. THAT'S SO COOL.
A ton of developers were advancing AI tech and attempting to integrate semi-realistic physics into games at the time. It's not like it was something completely unheard of until LGS blessed us with the concept.
PS: Literally just about every last detail in that second image is true about the new game as well.

OK, discussions aside, you guys look like a bunch of morons with your faux internet rage caps speak. Do you really think that kind of shit is still funny?
Good lord, maybe I'm just too old for this.

Obviously they were aiming for realism, hence the ability to turn INVISIBLE when standing in a static shadow.

I don't think they think it's funny Brethren, it's illustrative.

Which is perfectly relevant to the discussion at hand.

What does it illustrate?
