What is an IIRC?
If I Remember Correctly.

I know this is off at a tangent, but I'm hoping some of the brainy types here can help me. I've suddenly developed an extreme allergy: hives, asthma, exhaustion, swollen bits.. the whole shebang. I'm waiting for a blood test, and gubbing down antihistamines and steroids at the moment, which I don't really like doing, but the alternative is to be poleaxed.
My question is:
If I remove things (plants, dust, etc) from my surroundings, can I expect an immediate result, or will my body take time to get better ? I'm trying to find out myself, and I can't get a simple answer on this from any of the allergy sites.
ANY kind of info/advice will be fallen upon with gratitude.

Strictly speaking, if you remove the allergen from the immediate environment, your reaction should start to wear off (there being nothing to provoke an immune response further). In practicality, it may take a little while (on the order of hours) for your body to flush itself and completely recover (this second part could potentially be longer). And if you're allergic to something that's diffuse and hard to remove from the environment (think pollen allergies, etc), then you may have an uphill battle.
I'm rather deathly allergic to peanuts, which is another story altogether, but it's thankfully something I can avoid.

motherfucking granola bars.Oh, don't I know it.. I actually am a bit allergic to soy - it'll irritate the back of my throat and make my tongue and lips swell nicely. Just not to the same life-threatening extent that peanut-anything would :erg:

Thanks, Karlfox: first straight answer I've had in weeks. I'm going for it, but I don't want to end up like Howard Hughes (Think carboard boxes for slippers!). As for the peanut thing... I've seen that happen with pupils of mine, and I guess I should be grateful I'm just wheezing and draping myself on furniture most of the day like a Victorian poet.

God dammit I came in here to use that joke and now I find that I've been pre-empted by your mullet-rock comedy stylings. Oh, I'll leave quietly, but I won't be happy about it.
