It's very refreshing to have one thread talking about how CommChat is stagnant and devolved and basically a circle-jerk for bitter old-timers to hate on the new members and then find on the same page a post discouraging anyone from talking about anything fresh, provocative, or interesting because "TTLG isn't my first stop when I want to see said discussion"

However, opinions were sought - I gave mine.
I suggested a well-established place to discuss bloody, violent crimes. One that comes to my mind more than does TTLG for discussion of said topic. I don't see the problem. Everyone else is certainly free to think differently.

While I do agree that posting the latest grisly newspiece purely to create speculation around the case isn't exactly the sort of threads any of us seem interested in, I must say that I'd rather we get the opportunity to thread-shit, seriously partake in the depression, or take tangents to the main thread than tell the poster to GTFO (unless they are tarded).
