Hi masters of the Thief universe!
I am a total beginner at DromEd and wanted the merest full screen DromEd setup on my 4k (tv) monitor - which I usually run in 1920 x 1080 @ 120Hz due to slight sight issues (poor astigmatism). I'm posting this for anyone else who has the problem of no menu bar in 1920 x 1080, even though you may have already covered it elsewhere in other forum posts. It may not work for all monitor types but may be worth a go if they are either natively above HD 1080p or have freesync?
Firstly, my setup:
GPU: GTX1080 - old by modern standards but very powerful for Thief!!
S/W:
1. Installed GOG version (1.26) of T2
2. Patched with latest T2Fix_1.27e_with_mods (at time of writing this)
3. Further patched with latest DromEd 1.14beta Toolkit
4. Further patched with Bullet DromEd 1.27
5. Further patched with Thief2HDMod1.0 (like WOW!!)
As per other advice offered here in TTLG, I added this to the bottom of my DromEd.cfg:Code:
; ***** START Customizations *****
; D3D9 render options
use_d3d_display
editor_disable_gdi
edit_screen_depth 32
d3d_disp_hw2d_msaa
3d_disp_refreshrate 120
;bigger font
gui_font intrface/textfont
; desired height (pixels) of GFH/bottom area in editor, value may also be a negative number to define a
; percentage based relative height (-50 would be half the window, 50%)
gfh_height 150
; max width of command terminal (if there is free space to make it wider)
gfh_max_cmd_width 410
; number of decimal places displayed in GFH coordinate entry boxes, a value 2 to 8 (default is 2)
gfh_coord_decimals 4
; alternative texture PnP layout (allows a taller texture thumbnail)
texture_pnp_layout 1
; status bar height, a value between 16 and 64 (default is 16), usually only needed when using custom font
status_height 24
; display XYZ info for the current mouse cursor position in a 2D viewport
show_mouse_xyz
; display current camera coordinates
show_camera_xyz
;
lgfile_spew 5
; make 32 bit the default
enable_32bit_lightmaps
; increase display precision in the dialogs
sdesc_decimals 5
; draw brush centers (1 = cur brush only, 2 = all brushes)
brush_centers 1
; Set user name for info_window
user therewasmynamehere
force_windowed
The two solved issues that had existed for me:1. A larger bottom section so I can read the input values. This was solved by the above customizations - i.e. gfh_height 150
2. A menu that shows at the top in FULL SCREEN 1920 x 1080 HD (1080p)
I googled lots on why DromEd loses its menu when setting the
Code:
edit_screen_size 1920,1080
in DromEd.cfg
The biggest find was that the DromEd window MUST be smaller than the native resolution. Fair enough, but by reducing the window in the DromEd.cfg to 'the next one down', I was getting extra wasted space and I personally needed max vision.
The solver was this (YMMV):After a bit of calculation, I realised I needed an nVidia CUSTOM resolution of 1920 x 1130 so that a call to a 1920 x 1080 DromEd would include the menu. 1134 was the calc value but I tweaked this down to 1130 for a perfect full screen DromEd. They KEY is not DromEd - it is a tweak to your GPU:-
Under nVidia control panel, select Display Resolution:

I hope this has been useful to someone starting up. If I very much mistaken anywhere, then let me know - it works so well on my setup - fingers crossed for you too.
Best ones,
